The Genie's Curse eBook Review

eBook: The Genie's Curse

Authoress: Bronwyn Storm
Genre: Adult | Romance | Fantasy
Available Formats: Adobe (pdf), MS Reader (lit), Web (html)
Story Length: Mini
Pages: 63

My condensed version: Aggie is out for an evening jog when she trips on a antique teapot. While trying to remove some tarnish she unleashes a sweet but ominous genie that warns the teapot is cursed and therefore all wishes need to be made and spoken very very carefully. So it is simply a case of misunderstanding when Aggie wishes out loud to be in the arms of her best-friend and neighbor Dillon. After the smoke and haze clear Aggie wakes up in Dillon's arms alright.

There is however just one tiny problem: Aggie is now a dog.

My take: This a cute girl-next-door becomes fly-on-the-wall fable. The dog prospective had me grinning from ear-to-ear. Plus the writer receives major kudos in Jujuland for a Mickey Spillane reference. Bronwyn Storm writes with flair and I enjoyed both the story and her writing style.

My rating: 4 stars; I really got a kick out of this imaginative romp.

2 for 2:
Main character: Quick witted
Plot: Sweet blithe

The Meter Readings:
Adventure-o-meter: Medium. Aggie's got a spell to reverse.
Kiddie-o-meter: This story is aimed for adults so there are sexual innuendos and mentions to nudity and desire. They are also a couple of minor curse words.
Adult-o-meter: This is an adorable quick light-hearted tale that romance and fantasy lovers will enjoy.

Worth-a-read?: Totally! Whether you are looking for something quick, need a break from something heavy, or just want to try something short and fun this is it. Plus you really can not beat the price.

Quotable:

"Be good, I'm going to go and have a shower.
Her ears perked at this, and the depression fled. Morality gave a half-hearted speech about the necessity for Dillon's privacy, but the opportunity was just too glorious to pass up. She jumped to her feet and followed him to the bathroom door."

My final say: This story made me think about all the things dogs witness. Thank goodness dogs and walls can't talk.

Kind of makes me wish I could be a dog... for a little while, anyway. It would be almost as good as being invisible, as far as spying goes.

I've got something for you here.
