News Flash: Fallen Princesses

What would happen if some of our most beloved fictional princesses
visited modern times? Dina Goldstein has answered just that.
I stumbled across her photos quite accidentally and found them
so visually compelling I had to share them with you.

Snippet: "These works place Fairy Tale characters in modern day scenarios. In all of the images the Princess is placed in an environment that articulates her conflict. The "happily ever after" is replaced with a realistic outcome and addresses current issues."

To see the other in the series
(like Rapunzel, Jasmine, and Belle)

What do you think? Which one is your favorite or least favorite?

  1. oh, poor ariel--breaks my heart :(

yea, I saw that in Snow White's future.

What's up with Cinderella, how does a fairy tale life lead to the drink?

  2. Kaye: Good question.

I do love how her dress contrasts her surroundings.

  6. I like these a lot, I don't know if I could pick a favourite. I do really like the princess and the pea picture - that's always been one of my favourite fairy tales.

  7. These are awesome! I'm liking Cinderella in the bar, but the Snow White one kind of makes me want to cry.

  8. Ooh, I love looking at these!

Hmm..I'd have to say that my favourite is Jasmine, the one with the background of war happening.
The one of Belle looks pretty scary, but I so understand it!
Whoa at the Rapunzel one. It's so sad.

Thanks for sharing! I really enjoyed look at these :)

  9. Wow, those are awesome. It's hard to pick a favorite, but I guess I'll go with the Little Mermaid One because I love the way she' pressed up against the glass.

Anyway, I just wanted to say "Hi" and that I found your blog today and really enjoyed it. I hope you don't mind that I'm following you now...

  11. Just commenting to say I reposted over at my blog. Hope you don't mind! I did link to you, but if you want me to take down the post that's fine. :)
And I forgot to say my favorite would have to be Cinderella or Ariel. I can't decide!

  12. Those are great photos but they seem very stereotyped. Especially Jasmine's such a shame that the artist put her in a war zone instead of other modern situations. Please, no one get offended at my opinion. The photos are fantastic, it's the context that I find a little bit degrading, all of them seem to show a negative image.

  15. Poor Ariel!

These are very creative, if not mildly depressing in a way, haha. But if I had to pick a favorite, I'd go with Cinderella!

  16. Shannon: Mind? No way! Welcome welcome :) Thanks for following :)

Patty: No worries! Thanks for sharing your opinion. :)

These are definitely edgy and made to take our beloved princesses out of their comfort zones. Some made me sad (like Rapunzel, Ariel, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jasmine) and some made me smile at the irony and dark humor (like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and the Princess and the Pea).

I agree with NotNessie I wouldn't hang them in my home but they are so visually compelling I couldn't take my eyes off of them either.

    Thanks ladies :)

  19. oh, I really love theses! They're just so pretty and different! Lets see my favorite would have to be the Cinderalla one one because the contrast of her dress and the bar is just really pretty. But I love the Little Mermaid one, too! I guess I like them all :) This was really cool, JuJu, thanks for sharing :)
