Yackety-yak: Tell me tell me...

Tales of Whimsy is considering...
a full blog makeover.
*gasp*
I know I know.
Not again, right?
For now...I am brain storming and would like to open the floor to you
(my lovely sweet supportive amazing followers).

Which blogs (besides your own) have the best body and sidebar layouts?
Do you prefer two or three columns?
Do you prefer the columns on each side or both to one side?

Please tell me what you think.

  1. I really don't have a strong opinion either way! I like the ones that have the two sidebars on one side, but I also like them on each side (which is how mine is). I like pretty much all the layouts that parajunkee does, haha. I like The Book Smugglers. I guess I like ones that are pretty to look at (which I think yours is already!!) but also ones that are a little different from the norm too. One of the biggest tings for me is the header, but you already have an adorable one! That might not have been much help, lol!

  2. I can't think of any blogs off the top of my head. I think I need to eat some food... getting spacey...

I do prefer two-column layouts, though. Two sidebars takes up a lot of room, and I feel like sometimes the main posts are being crowded out. That's just my personal preference, though. I'm sure whatever you choose will be lovely.

  3. I'm always looking for ways to change my blog, but I do really enjoy your layout you have now. But I understand the wanting to change it up a bit. I really like 3 column layouts. They're just easier for me personally that way there isn't a bunch of clutter on one side where I have to scroll down. Dunno if that was much help, lol

  4. I love your blog layout 'as is' BUT who I am to say don't--you saw what I did! LOL I prefer a 2-column layout myself, and not too cuttered up with extras. A girls got to re-decorate now and then though; besides it's so much fun! Can't wait to see what you decide to do :)

  5. I prefer three columns (with sidebars on each side) simply because it gives you more space to put things and (I think) provides a nice frame for the main post! I love your layout now, but a change is always nice.

  6. I think the three column blog is nice. I have ideas for mine to be like that. The two columns it can get a little long on one side. I don't know! I like yours like it is now and I love your header.
I'll read ya no matter what you look like !:)

  9. I prefer 3 colunms, one small one on each side. Some color to the back ground but not too busy because it takes toooooo long to load. Like just a colored background with a picture at the top.
A color background is actually easier on the eyes than the white.

  10. LOL Besides my own! I want to change mine too.
I like the three column format.
Love Kate's style and organisation on NES.
I prefer the backgrounds to be lightly coloured and font to be black.

  11. Number of sidebars etc doesn't matter to me. What matters to me is readability. Solid backgroup with a dark enough print that I can read it! Not overly cluttered. And for me personally I like the archive posts lists. I use it a lot! Good luck. Can't wait to see what you do :)

  12. Three blog columns are really nice. I've grown too attached to my layout though to change mine over lol. I like the columns one on each side though. I think it looks really nice that way!

  13. I do like the current layout and it works quite well with the content. I've seen many blogs designs that I like they're have open space and only 1 or 2 columns. But I always thought 3 columns works for best for those with lots of content and 1 or 2 column for those with less. It's really pretty much base on preferences. There's my 2 cents.

  14. I like 3-column layouts better, but only if the main body section appears larger than the two sidebars together. Also, I like simplistic designs, where the content in the main body and the sidebars are projected more than the layout images itself. Mainly because, while initially it will look eye-catching, after a while, you get bored of looking at the same colors and images. I guess that's why I went in for a stripped look. LOL! But that's just me. :)

  15. It doesn't matter what we like. It is your blog and design. Just go for it! Surprise us and yourself! I know it will look fab!

  16. Your blog's very pretty as it is, but if you're considering a makeover, then I'd definitely go with three columns. I can't really give any specific recommendations as that's what most bloggers do anyway! Can't wait to see what you come up with! :)

  18. Since you're askin' my preferences are....

Three or two is fine. Either way works if the side bars are adjusted properly. With three columns I think keeping the side bars not to busy is good too.

white or light background with dark font.

    Larger sized fonts.

    I'm sure you'll get a great background redesign!!! :)

  19. I like the three column and prefer the sidebars on either side with the blog posts in the middle. Mine currently has both sidebars to the right and I want to see if they designer would be willing to change it up for me.
BTW I love your look but can understand wanting a change. Best of luck with what you decide.

  20. You have a beautiful blog!!

I like three columns and a sharp header. Come to think of it . . . I need to do some work on my blog design. Let me know of any resources (great designers, etc) you discover!

  21. But why????? (jk)

I like your blog. There isn't anything that needs to change, but I can understand the odd need to change and improve stuff.

I like the "visit me at: LT, Shelfari, GR." I'm seriously considering stealing it for my blog. ;) (but really, may I? *cough cough*) I haven't seen that on other blogs yet because not everyone uses all 3 social book sites. You must be a superhero; you're everywhere. ;)

  22. For me the simpler the layout the better. Good luck!

  24. Oh, it took me such a long time to arrive at a layout that I'm happy with for more than a week (ha, ha)..., I always went back to "The Inspired Room" blog (layout), not that mine ended really up like that, but it was one of the inspirational blogs..., some others too, but now I don't remember them anymore.
