"It is romantic, yes," agreed Hercule Poirot. "It is peaceful. The sun shines. The sea is blue. But you forget, Miss Brewster, there is evil everywhere under the sun." - Agatha Christie Evil Under the Sun (first published in 1941)
Fun note: I found a Wii game based on the book! I daresay, I can not wait to try it. Poor Mr. Whimsy. *wink wink*

Very romantic! Have fun playing with your Wii
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite Agatha Christie books. I love the setting and the multiple twists included. Hope you enjoy it and I had no idea there was a Wii game. Hmmmm......

ReplyDeleteGreat teaser. I love Agatha Christie.
My teaser
I haven't read Agatha in forever! Who'd have thunk they'd make a Wii game based on one of her books. What a riot.
ReplyDeleteMy teaser is from "Dear Bob, Dear Betty," a collection of letters between her parents, by Elizabeth Catherine Wright, herself the granddaughter of Frank Lloyd Wright. Betty is the daughter of a Chicago artist who abandoned the family while she wasn't even born yet -- she's in Milwaukee, Bob is in Chicago and these are the letters between them -- poignant, sassy, witty, as they grapple with their feelings AND deal with the great depression! There's a lot of setting the letters into context, too, which makes the book fascinating, because you get the family and social history behind the letters.
And what history! This IS FL Wright, after all, which leads to my great teaser:
[[You made an ultra-favorable impression upon my step-mother and she has directed me to ask you to attend the annual Halloween party at Taliesin, which occurs on the 29th of this month. I have never been to one of these parties myself and I am afraid that, due to the presence of numerous out of town guests, the overnight accommodations may be somewhat crowded but I would like very much to take a chance on liking it if you will.''
Taliesin -- it's famous! And it's just thrown in there casually...
I LOVE Agatha Christie but haven't read this one yet. Great teaser!
ReplyDeleteHere's my teaser for this week.

As for my b-day. We went for lunch Saturday. My MIL had my son at a party. Today we can't get away because My MIL had Back Surgery yesterday so we have been visiting her in the Hosp. She is doing great though :)
Cleverly: SO glad to hear your MIL is ok and I am SO hoping you get a rain check on birthday celebrations :)
ReplyDeleteGreat quote. I've read a number of Christie's books but still haven't gotten into any of her Poirot.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the video game version. Hopefully it plays well on the Wii. I played "And then there were none" on the PC and it was pretty fun (they changed things up a little bit to make it fresh, but it was still fun).
I loved this book :) She is an amazing writer!

I love Agatha Christie!!! Read all her books and have about 20 audio dramatisations of her books. And that is a great teaser! Thanks for visiting my blog
ReplyDeleteI adore Christie! I've read around 20-30 of her books and own many of them. Evil Under the Sun is by far one of her better novels. It's amazing! And you have to watch the movie after you're finished. It's very well done.
