Did you know that Tyra Banks is working on a young adult fantasy series? The first book is due out next year.In her own words: "The story happens in a make-believe place called Modelland - every girl in the world wants to go there because it’s where “Intoxibellas” are trained. Intoxibellas are drop-dead beautiful, kick-butt fierce and, yeah, maybe they have some powers too. The story follows a teen girl and her friends who find themselves magically transported to Modelland, even though they’re really not supposed to be there."
So what do you think ladies? Will you give Modelland a chance?

I'm not really a fan of Tyra to begin with, although I love ANTM. I can't really see her writing anything other than an autobiography, but I might read this just to see what her style is like. I'll probably wait for some reviews to pop up first and then decide to read or not to read from there. (c:

Oh, the humanity! LOL! Of course I'll be giving Tyra a chance! Her idea of fun is pure insanity. Plus, she likes to make up words, adding them to her Tyra vocab, in hopes that they will catch on, making her super-duper famous. LOL! I can't imagine what she'll turn out as an author. Thanks for the heads up regarding this big-egoed goonie bird. <-- And I mean that in the kindess sense of the word. LOL!
ReplyDeleteeek.
ReplyDeleteI think the world is ending.
I dunno, I'll prolly just pick it up because I'm curious. So many celebrities writing books! 0.0
I'll likely check these out - if only to see how Tyra will write herself into them. I'm sure she'll show up as the super-awesome leader of the Intoxibellas.
ReplyDeletei don't what i should think of it..i'm not really a fan, but, i think i would give try.. =)
ReplyDeleteBeauty and brains, huh? Okey, I will give Tyra as a writer an equal fighting chance with everybody else. I won't designate her work to the feeble straight away... so I say, I'll give her work a try and we'll see...
ReplyDeleteI'm very indifferent about Tyra, in general. I think she can actually be a good role model for some. If only she wasn't so self-centered all the time.. and LOL @alita reads! You are so right -- she'll probably make herself the most beautiful goddess in the land. Oh goodness.
ReplyDeleteI might check it out of curiosity. I always try to keep an open mind!
Urm... Was that blurb supposed to make me want to read it ?!! LOL !
ReplyDeleteumm... probably not. the blurb's sounds silly to me.
ReplyDeleteI think I will give it a try, it just sounds so fun. :) I mean Modelland! LOL.
ReplyDeleteMaybe? LOL. The story doesn't sound very interesting to me... But I'm definitely open into checking it out. Besides I'm curious. :D
ReplyDeleteUm... probably not. I mean, I'm just not grabbed by that premise. However, Tyra's fame will probably ensure that I'll chance upon a bundle of reviews of this one someday, and if they're crazy positive then I'd be open to giving it a go.
ReplyDeleteNope. Tyra took too many of my waking hours when she seduced me with Top Model. I'm not falling into the Modelland trap!
ReplyDeleteI'll admit, this news made me laugh too! I'm wondering if she'll really write her herself. I remember seeing the news first in an article where she stated that she loved books so much that when she enters a library, she's shaking. Really?!?
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say "probably not" on this one- it just sounds like a one-way ticket to self-esteem issues for those of us who aren't stick-thin and gorgeous!!!! However, I will wait to read the reviews of others before I truly form an opinion....
ReplyDeleteI am guessing that this will be ghostwritten the way most celeb fiction is.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely not a fan of Tyra and reading about models with supernatural or superhero powers just doesn't appeal to me. While I might give Hilary Duff's book Elixir a chance I will probably be passing on this one.
OMG. LOL! This will be fun. Thanks for sharing, I hadn't seen this before.
ReplyDeleteummmm.... I will definitely not be checking this series out. I like Tyra okay, but this doesn't really sound like a compelling plot to me. Hmm. Maybe she'll prove me wrong!
ReplyDeleteHmm that's really interesting! Honestly it just sounds...weird. I love ANTM, but I think I'll probably pass on this one. Unless of course it turns out amazing haha ;)
ReplyDeleteTyra is okay but this book sounds pretty idiotic. I won't be checking it out, but I will read blogger reviews.
ReplyDeleteI read about this yesterday and thought "oh my!" It doesn't sound like my thing.
ReplyDeleteI do have a question, how do they determine that the girls aren't supposed to be there, and what message does that send to the girls reading the story?
I'll wait for your review. ; )
ReplyDeleteI've heard about this! Honestly, I won't read the book. To begin with it doesn't sound like my type, and I won't read it just because Tyra wrote it.
ReplyDeleteI think she is annoying as sin. However I would give it a try based on good reviews
ReplyDeleteI love ANTM, but not really a fan of the premise. I sort of doubt that if she had queried under a pseudonym this would have been published.
ReplyDeleteI definitely will not be spending my money on this one.
I'll probably pick it up just to witness the insanity! Sounds...crazy.
ReplyDeleteI had actually heard about it earlier this week and was beyond disturbed by it. Sorry to any Tyra fans, but I think celebrity books of almost any sort are crap. And to be honest I think it's a slap in the face to most hard working writers out there, who sometimes are only lucky enough to have one or two agents even look at their manuscripts. I can only imagine how Tyra got this deal, but if it's anything like her talk show...blah!
ReplyDeleteSorry, just my opinion. :o)
I don't know much about Tyra Banks. But when I first read about the title and the blurb, I thought it sounds a bit cheesey... regardless of who wrote it... would probably enjoy the concept better if I was a teenager...?! who knows...
ReplyDeleteI have my reservations about the new crop of YA celebre-authors, modeling, and Tyra, but even so, I am pretty sure I'll be reading this. What can I say? I'm curious to see if it'll be any good.
ReplyDeleteI awarded you;

Freda: Thanks sweetie :)
ReplyDeleteChrista, April, Emidy, Chelley, Passport: I feel ya!
1st daughter: Never apologize darling! It's totally cool. I totally understand your perspective :)
Book Owl, Nina, Anna, Kris, and Ella: LOL Thatta girl! ;) I love your fearlessness! :) *high five*
Sparkle: LOL Girl you crack me up :)
Kay: Yahhhh that line caught me too ;)
Miel: LOL reading your response makes me think of that line: "Watch out Bat Girl it's a trap" :)
Alita: *smile* I love your take. I can totallllly see that happening too. "In comes the super fierce bronzed leader of the Intoxibellas = Tyra."
Cleverly, Cara, InWhichaGirlReads, Darlyn, Cherry, Jillian, Lauren, Jonita, Sara, Emma, and Lisa: I'm with you. If I read some great reviews I'll check it out. I may also get it from the library.
Christina T.: I'm more interested in Hillary Duff's too :) The blurb on her book sounds WAY more interesting.
Caroline: Exactly ;) agreed.
Teresa: Excellent point! I hadn't thought of that.
I might be willing to give her books a chance but they don't sound like anything fabulous.... needless to say I'm on the fence about this one. I blame Lauren Conrad for starting the celebrity/author trend :/
ReplyDeleteNope. Celebrities who think fame and/or beauty qualifies them as good writes = my pet peeve. Delusions of grandeur. Writing takes years and years of hard work, study, and practice. Smiling at a camera doesn't qualify. I sound harsh...uh...um...and yet I can't even apologize of it. How 'bout a big harmless smile? :D
ReplyDeleteI duuuuuunno, I have to say I'm quite sceptical about this one and the premise just sounds confusing and not my cup of tea ...
ReplyDeleteI messed up by commenting on the wrong post. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThis series sounds good! I'm all for giving it a try!
I certainly hope this doesn't offend anyone but that sounds like the lamest SHIT ever!!! I can't stand Tyra to begin with but can she please stop trying to take over the world she isn't Opera!! Okay sorry for the rant. I just can't believe she is trying to make a book about this crap!
ReplyDeleteNope. I am so not interested in this and I am disgusted frankly with all these stupid celebrity books.
ReplyDeleteAndrea and Bookalicious: LOL Feel ya ;)
ReplyDeleteEmily and Julie: LOL No worries! I opened the floor to opinions and appreciate you sharing yours. Thanks for stopping by :)
Aths: You go girl! :)
Pirate: Have you tried LC's book?
Oh, Tyra Banks...I might read the book, but there's no way I'd buy it.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I hadn't heard about that! I'm going to pass, after the Lauren Conrad fiasco (not a fan of LA candy) I'm only going to read books by celebs I like or am interested in. Are you going to read it?
ReplyDeletethere's too many other fantastic books to read out there by real authors!
ReplyDeleteStacy: LOL True! ;)
ReplyDeleteCarrie: If I hear good things I'll check it out from the library. :)
Lea: Exactly! That's what I'm thinking. :)
Oh jeez...I don't think so! :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I'm not sure. The book itself doesn't sound up my alley but I might give it a chance. Let me know what you think!
ReplyDeleteJuju: I read a few pages of LC's book but I just couldn't get into it...
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely be willing to give it a chance. I mean Tyra Banks, you have to give her "props" for her many talents...perhaps writing is just another one to add to the list.
ReplyDeletePirate: I feel ya girl. I haven't tried hers. :)
ReplyDeleteGMR: Very true! You go girl! I love that optimism.
Kim (Book Butterfly): Will do :)
Kim: LOL :)
Oh good lord!
