This sounds like a great quirky book. Fantastic first sentences! Okra (and my hatred of it) is a running joke in my family so the title really stood out to me and I love how the cover totally doesn't match the title :)
ReplyDeleteI meant to imply that the cover looks like a fantasy novel (sword). I look forward to your review!
ReplyDeleteGreat opening! I hope you're enjoying it! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteChristina: I feel ya girl! I'm no fan of okra either ;)
ReplyDeleteAlek: Thanks darling! You too :)
That is what I call a good start ;p
ReplyDeleteNice first sentence! I did download the book and added it to the massive TBR stack. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI like that cover too, though it doesn't seem to jibe with the story. :-)
ReplyDeleteMine's from The Turn of the Screw.
Great find!
ReplyDeleteHere is my Friday Find!
Interesting title. I'll have to download it. :0)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a great (free) find! It reminds me a bit of that Susan Surandan and Natalie Portman movie from awhile back. The mom just picks up everything and moves to California, because she's always wanted to go, but really just wants to get away from everything. Pretty good...I'm definitely interested to see what you think overall.
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of this book already, from the title to the beginning...
ReplyDeleteHere's mine:

Wow, what a beginning! That would sure keep me reading, simply out of curiosity. Hope you're liking the book, Juju!
ReplyDeleteLaurel: Thanks for stopping by :)
ReplyDelete1st daughter: I remember that movie! It's called Anywhere But Here. :) Now I feel like rushing out and seeing it again :)
Kah: Yah I feel ya. I think it's the beginning of a crazy journey ;)
Kathy: :) I'm especially bad with my eReader. I just can't stop accumulating digital books.
Sounds like a great read. Reminds me of that movie Anywhere But Here where Susan Sarandon moved Natalie Portman all over.
ReplyDeleteI almost downloaded that one last night but I stopped myself....I have so many books to read right now that I shouldn't even be looking at other books, especially ones so tempting as FREE!!! I hope you enjoy it! Sounds like a hilarious read!
ReplyDeleteMmmm...fried okra. Sounds good. Looks like a great read too!
ReplyDeleteWell for starters, that's an original title, though it doesn't do a thing for my taste buds... *shudders*
ReplyDeleteThe two liner there....definitely sounds like their mother has made a habit out of running away....curious, very curious...
Happy reading! ^_^
I downloaded that one yesterday!
ReplyDeleteI saw this one somewhere recently. I like the title!
ReplyDeleteGood beginning, but I'm not loving the title. :-)
ReplyDeletePop over today and enter my giveaway. I announce the winner tomorrow. :-)
Thanks for the heads up on the free kindle download!! You're a true gem!!
ReplyDeleteI have to say this is not something I would even consider picking up. I will await your review. Interesting book
ReplyDeleteNot my usual type of read but I watch these sorts of movies-- BUT I love the title-- I dare say I may be the Goddess of Okra or at least the High Priestess! I even put leftover roasted okra on sandwiches... mmmmm...
ReplyDeleteVery unusual, hope you are enjoying it! I like the see that it is provided for free
ReplyDeletegirl i so need to get with the memes, i haven't even heard of this one!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this one, you always find the neatest books. Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely makes me curious, and I love the title =)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic title! I've got to read this now.
ReplyDeleteBetween the cover and the title I am highly interested. Thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteKim: Thanks sweet pea :)
ReplyDeleteBlueice: Really? The Fridays ones are my favs :)
Cozy: I know exactly what you mean. For example: I hate sports books but I love sports movies.
The High Priestess of Okra? Well welcome welcome! I feel so honored. Sandwhiches? I bet Mr. Whimsy would love that idea!
Cherry: So are you darling :) Thanks for popping by!
Tofu: Whoot! :)
Andrea: *giggle*
Stacy: Ooo I can't resist free ebooks :)
Cari: Totally! :)
