"The Rusty Ruins were the remains of an old city, a hulking reminder of back when there'd been way too many people, and everyone was incredibly stupid." - Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
This book has really made an impression on me so far.
I am totally anxious to see what Tally does with her impossibly difficult options.
The choice she is forced to make is something I wouldn't wish on anyone.

It sounds soo good.I have this book on my shelf. I really want to read(as soon as the TBR pile is down) I think its being made into a movie...i think?
ReplyDeleteThis is indeed another series by Westerfeld that I'm really eager to try. I'm currently reading the 2nd book of his Midnighters series and really enjoyed it! Hope that you'll really enjoy reading this one!
ReplyDeleteI've seen this book posted all over the book blog world but I haven't read it yet. Great teaser.

This is what I'm reading right now! I'm having a bit of a hard time getting into it though :/
ReplyDeleteHave yet to read this. Though I have heard fab things
ReplyDeleteFaye: Yes it is! Whoot! Rumor is 2011.
ReplyDeleteShy: I'm really loving this book so far so I will definitely be checking out the Midnighters series you mentioned :) Thanks for the thoughts.
Jamie: On my way :)
Cara & Forgot: Reallly? How far in did you get?
Great teaser. I might be the only person that didn't LOVE this book, but it was definitely an entertaining read. My students love this series, too!

I am in the miniority on this one. I didn't enjoy it and have decided dystopian isn't for me.
ReplyDeleteVery good book, and a wonderful teaser! Kinda makes me want to reread it. Hmm...
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser! I should read these :) Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteNice teaser there! I've actually read book 1, 2 and most of 3 (long story) of this series...it's really good, and though fiction based, some of it really does speak to our current needs enviromentally. Not often seen in YA books, at least not usually with a good story too! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI only got about three or four chapters in & couldn't stand it anymore.
ReplyDeleteI loved this book but I didn't have the next one on hand at the time and I haven't had a chance to read it since then. I'll probably re-read this one first.
ReplyDeleteAwesome teaser!

Nice teaser! I need to read Uglies.
ReplyDeleteI love the Uglies series - I've read them all and it's awesome.
ReplyDeleteYou asked about Life As We Knew It being hard on Christianity and it is, but the rest of the books aren't like that. Maybe she had people complain. I didn't like that aspect of the first one, but it is the personality of one character and there are people who feel that why. What I did like about the first one is the way the family pulled together and the whole what-if aspect of it all. The next two books have a Catholic main character and his religion is a positive rather than a negative in my opinion anyway.
Fabulous teaser! This is a series I keep meaning to read. Can’t wait to hear what you think when you’re done :)
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the best series I've ever read, and a lot of really difficult questions/ideas are addressed in a very entertaining but still thoughtful way. I loved Westerfeld's storytelling and writing styles. Hopefully I can get my hands on some of his other books soon :)
ReplyDeleteCade
I really like Westerfeld's writing, have to get this this series. Great teaser!
ReplyDeleteOur teaser is at BookSake.

LadyTink: YAH! :)
Mary: VERY cool! :) Thanks for breaking that down for me. I really appreciate getting feedback on that. It was mainly what has kept me from reading them. I think I should definitely try the series.

ReplyDeleteUglies is one of my fave dystopia YA series. Glad you're enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteI've seen this series every time i walk into a bookstore but for some reason have not picked it up...sounds really good! I don't know why I didn't realize it was dystopian - I am so into dystopian novels right now!
ReplyDeleteI remember reading this series and loving it! The books are strange, but so addicting and well written. Glad you're liking it, Juju!
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser! This was an awesome series, and actually got me into the dystopian genre. I hope you continue to enjoy it :)
ReplyDeleteLizzy: OMG I stayed up till midnight last night reading. :)
ReplyDeleteEmidy: Addicting is right ;) I bought book two this morning.

Manga: I'm heading over now ;)
NotNessie: Whoot! I'm glad to hear you liked it too.
I'm dying to read this series as well. It's one I think I'm going to try and talk my hubby into reading since he tends to like dystopian style novels.
ReplyDelete1stdaughter: I think I could totally hang with your hubs ;) I LOVE dystopian. I don't read it all the time 'cause it is sometimes a downer but they always completely captivate me.
ReplyDeleteThe hidden messages in this book were so awesome!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree on the downer with the Dystopian novels. And hehe...well, if you could hang with him you could definitely hand with me as well. We pretty much read all the same books, watch the same TV, etc. Just male and female versions of each other LOL!
ReplyDeleteAths: Yah :) definitely! I like how he points out the good and the bad of the rusties and power hungry newbies.
ReplyDelete1stdaughter: LOL Sounds you're a perfect couple ;) I already knew you were the bees knees and apparently so is your mister. ;)
Are you posting a review Ju? Would like to hear what you have to say :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great series. It definitely gets darker as it goes along, but so good, and great for discussion.
