Book: Forgive My Fins
Authoress: Tera Lynn Childs
Pages: @304 Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books/Harper Collins
Goodreads: Forgive My Fins
Genre: YA | Fantasy | Mermaids
My summary: Think Some Kind of Wonderful (1987) featuring a modern-day teenage Ariel (The Little Mermaid) named Lily. Lily's affection are ill-placed BUT what is it going to take for her to figure that out and will she lose the right guy while chasing the wrong guy?
My say: This is pure fun. Perfect quick, light, foamy beach read. Plus, it features a sweet yet salty biker boy named Quince. I love characters like Quince, because I love guys like Quince. Guys who hide giant hearts behind big and tough bravadoes.
My favorite things:
- I love that Tera bypasses the ho-hum of, "Whoa mermaid," and delves right into the what ifs.
- Lily swears in fish. Example: "Son of a Swordfish"
- Their scrumptious kiss made my fins (I mean toes) curl.
My star rating: 4 out of 5 stars; The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was Lily. I wanted to slap her fishy sometimes.
My kiddie-o-meter: No sex or curse words but they do allude to Quince being experienced.
My final say: Fins are Forever (part 2) comes out next summer. I can't wait. I need more Quince.

ReplyDeletesounds like a book I would want to read but I never quite like books in series, there's always that wait for the next book, oh well, I'll probably read this because of the fairytale element, ie, mermaid, thanks for the review, it helped to decide if I want to read it

ReplyDeleteI don't like stupid protagonists. They are annoying to read. Lily sounds like she might be one... but, Quince sounds like an awesome character!
ReplyDeleteYay Juju! Glad you liked it. It is a quick, light read and I think my problem was that I took it too seriously. Lily got a little on my nerves, lol. But you're right - pure fun! Tera Lynn Childs is just a cutie, I love her style!!
ReplyDeleteQuince sounds like my kind of guy, too! And I LOVE that she swears in fish! How adorably awesome is that. I can't wait to find time to read this one.

Oh, it sounds good! I love that she swears in fish, haha! I might give this one a try - though there seems to be a lot of mermaids and sirens in YA fiction these days!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very cute read! :)
ReplyDelete"Son of a Swordfish" sounds delightful, LOL! I have to check this one out.
ReplyDeleteOh my! I had no idea about the swearing or the funny factor of this book. The cover makes it look so moody and so I didn't give it much of a second look, may have to now. Thanks!
