Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball | Book Review Mini

Book: Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball
Authoress: Donita K. Paul
Pages: 226 Publisher: WaterBrook Press
Formats: eBook, Hardcover
Genre: Christmas, Christian Fantasy, Christian Fiction Romance
Tagline: "Mischievous matchmakers, two special tickets, One unlikely couple"
My summary: Cora and Simon are both lonely souls until they wander into a bookshop of matchmakers.

My say: Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball is a sweet balanced treat. While there is a heavy dollop of faith there is also a rich mix of magic. Rarely does a book offer faith and magic together and this book is definitely magical. From the secret ticket that mysteriously finds it's way into their shopping bags to the old-fashioned costume romance ball, this book oozed magic.

My star rating: 3 stars

My recommendation: If you're a fan of CF and need a bit of holiday candy, definitely pick this one up.

My favorite part: The costume ball.

My favorite character: Simon's little sister.

My cover thoughts: I adore this cover. It is everything a holiday cover should be.

My kiddie-o-meter: This one is clean as a whistle.

My holiday cheer meter: Low Medium High

My final say: Have you ever been to a big old fashioned costume ball?

  6. I'm so glad this book's at least a 3! With a cover this adorable, it would have been disappointing for the book to not be enjoyable.

  7. How much fun would it be to go to an old fashioned Christmas ball? I would love that! And I agree with you on the cover - it's cute and festive and makes me want to read it! Thanks for sharing Juju:)

  8. I would love to go to a costume ball! And, the book cover looks very inviting.

  11. First off...love that book cover! The colors jump out at you and illustrate the title perfectly. Not generally a reader of CF, but I have made the occasional exception. I shall certainly consider it...oh and sadly no, but an old fashioned costume ball sounds like fun! Thanks for sharing, Juju!

  12. I absolutely adore this cover, I think that's really why I bought the book. ;o) But really, I can't wait to jump into this one next week because I definitely need some "Christmas Candy". Lovely review! I always love your set up, makes reading the review so nice and easy!

  13. I really hope I can find time to read this book before Christmas! Thanks for the review!

  14. Looks good! I can't say as I've ever been to a costume ball but I think it would be awesome! everytime I think costume ball I think Phantom of the Opera and the song Masquerade!

    XOXO~ Renee

  15. Renee: Agreed :) Funny that you say that because when I think of costume balls I think of the costume ball in the opera "Die Fledermaus" :)Great minds think alike :)

Ruth: I hope you do too :)

1stdaughter: Yah! :) I can not wait to see what you think. Thanks for your kinds words my dear. You're such a good supportive friend. *hug*

  16. That cover is definitely the perfect holiday cover! Looks like such a sweet read!

  17. I want to read this one! Your review makes me want to even more.

Sadly I've never been to an old fashioned costume ball. I always wanted to have one, and one time for my sister's birthday we talked about it. But our friends wouldn't probably even dress up! :( Maybe one day.

  18. Great review! Happy reading!

  19. Now from reading the comments... matchmaker matchmaker make me a match...

  20. No never been to any ball but this one sounds like a fun read.

  21. The cover is adorable. I'm really sure this is for me but it just looks so Christmassy.

  22. Oh, I have to agree with you, I love the cover, especially the "font type". I finally figured out what you meant by "CF". In my world it means Cystic Fibrosis. In the book world it means Christian Fiction.

  23. i just adore the cover! i want to jump right into it! i've seen this book around and thought the premise sounded really sweet - and an old fashion costume ball - too much fun!!! sign me up!

  24. Aww, I love the holiday feeling on your blog, Juju! I can feel it! This book sounds like a great read for the holidays too. I love reading about Christmas magic :D

  25. This sounds fun! I have never been to a costume ball, but it is on my bucket list ;)

  26. I like the cover... but only 3 stars?!... maybe when my TBR pile is not so high anymore...

  27. Cherry: Good thought :)

Christie: Amen! Mine too :) Along with an old fashioned sleigh ride in the snow :)

    Justine: Why thank you! :)

Stacy & Jenny N. & Gabrielle: Agreed! I've always dreamed of wearing a gorgeous red ball gown like the one Mia wore in Dracula the movie. :)

Gina: It is great font isn't it? Good eye! LOL I'm so sorry for the "CF". I'm not sure if it's an actual term but I just get so tired of constantly typing out "Christian Fiction" so I thought I would shorten it like YA. :)

Becky: Understandable and thank you sweetie for stopping by and commenting :)

MJ: Oooo now that song is in my head. I LOVE that song :)

Leslie & Andrea & Meredith: Thanks darling for stopping by :)

  28. Hi thought this one was really cute. A little far-fetched fantasy-wise, but very cute. I read it in November and caught a little Christmas spirit from it.

Thanks for visiting my blog! :)

  29. Jenn: It was bit fantastic but that is the great part about fantasy :) Thank you SO much for stopping by! :)

  30. I want to go to a ball! Sounds like a fun read!
