Tagline: "Will love ruin Bethany or save her?"Premise: An angel, sent to earth on a mission, falls in love with a human.
2¢ Worth: Some books snap, crackle, and pop. Some books sizzle or shimmer. Some books stroll. They refuse to rush. The would rather you slow down taste, see, and feel. They resemble lazy Sunday afternoons. They prefer to marinate, stew, and build flavor. I can't promise Halo is the book for you. I can only promise you should try it when you are ready to savor a slowly simmered tale.
Wooed: I enjoyed watching Bethany learn to be human and fall in love with the saintly swoony Xavier.
Wrapping: Gorgeous isn't? But the best part is that the silhouettes actually honor the character descriptions.
Wholly: Halo is a 4 star tale about the power of love. Have you read Halo? Am I the only one secretly hoping Gabriel gives Molly a chance?
Wrinkles: My only complaint was that Bethany didn't listen to her inner voice. Her spidey sense that told her, "Watch out angel girl! It's a trap."
Wrapping: Gorgeous isn't? But the best part is that the silhouettes actually honor the character descriptions.
Whippersnappers: This book has a spooky creepy stalker boy who happens to be a dark damned soul collecting followers.
Wholly: Halo is a 4 star tale about the power of love. Have you read Halo? Am I the only one secretly hoping Gabriel gives Molly a chance?

Great review! I'm glad you liked it.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see a good review for this! I've heard a lot of negative ones, but I'm still in LOVE with that cover. Great review, Juju :)
ReplyDeleteokay, you're going to laugh at me... but, well, I caught this in my Google desktop which comes without formatting and pictures. I just could not get over the fact that someone wrote a book about that stupid video game hubby plays (Halo). DUH! So I had to come check it out.
ReplyDeleteGlad I did! Thanks for a great review, Juju!
Finally... a good review on this book! I was attracted to this book by its outstanding covers but the many bad reviews on it stop me from purchasing my own copy. You truly makes me want to read it!
ReplyDeleteI haven't cracked the spine of this book yet, but I'm hoping to this weekend! The cover is just too pretty! :) Glad you liked it - hope I like it too :D
ReplyDeleteLike Melissa I love the cover and have heard more negative reviews than I can count but it proves that there is an audience for every book. I'm glad you really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteAlas, I've not read this one yet...but it is somewhere in the TBR mountain. Have been hearing mixed reviews on this one thus far, some issues with the "simmering" story technique employed that you described. Will have to unearth it for a read soon to sample for myself.....thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYour reviews are so sparkly, Juju. So delightful and fun to read!! Probably won't read this one but the cover is gorgeous and I just love to stop by and say hi to ya!
ReplyDeleteThe cover is gorgeous. I loved how you did this review Juju, your style is so unique in the words you use.
ReplyDeleteMichelle: Thanks doll :) and thank you for stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteGMR: Yes you must. :)
Cari: Amen :) I think it's also about being in the right mood. Sometimes I need fast and sometimes I relish slow.
Epic Rat: Yah! Good luck! :)
Shy: O good. I do hope you like it. I think you enjoy slow movers too :) You liked The Host right? Nothing alike but it did have similar pacing.
Gina Hott: LOL :D Good point! Easy to confuse.
Melissa & NotNessie & Marce: Thanks dolls :)
I have read a lot of negative reviews for this one, so even though I own it, I have been putting it off. I guess books that simmer aren't for everyone.
ReplyDeleteThanks for introducing me to a new perceptive of the book, Juju.
Missie: Agreed :) and thank you for putting it so nicely and being such a cool gal :)
ReplyDeleteHey chicky poo! I have a question for you.
ReplyDeleteAt the bottom of your blog you have a scrolly thing for blog buttons. How did you do that? Is there a link I can go to so I can make one (or I should say, so my daughter can make one for me).
BTW - come grab my new button!
i liked this sweet angel read, too ;-D
ReplyDeleteVv: Yah :)
ReplyDeleteWalltowall: Will do! Oh and no there is no linky doll but I will send you what I can on it :)

ReplyDeleteI heard someone said it was too Twilight like so not for me..but I still LOVE the cover
ReplyDeleteChristina: So very true! :) It was one of the best covers of last year. Great point.

Blod: Really? I didn't get the Twilight vibe. But thanks for sharing what you've heard :)
I need to get this asap. I have this on my tbr list. :) love the cover and like Melissa says, I'm glad that you loved the book. I keep reading bad reviews for it. ;( Great review!!
ReplyDeletesaintly and swoony??? you're making me want to read this one, juju!!
ReplyDeleteCarrie: *smile* :) Thanks!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful cover on that one. I might just have to pick it up.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review! I've had this on my list, but have been hesitant to pick it up. I think I may save it for summer (even though that seems like years from now).
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to read a different perspective for this one because the vast majority of reviews have been negative. I don't think this is the book for me but that cover is just so pretty, I'm very tempted.
ReplyDeleteSigh. That cover is so pretty. I may need to add this to my collection.
ReplyDeleteBriz: Right? Me too. I loooved Sea Change and I remember lots of people thinking it moved too slow :)
ReplyDeleteJenny Girl: Thanks doll :)
Toothy: *high five*
Joy: Oooo you should!

ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to read this!!!!! Oh library, I promise to pay my late fees ASAP. I'm glad you shared your thoughts on this one, they made me want to read it even more :D
ReplyDeleteHave heard that this might not be the most exciting action packed book but I like romance and love in a story so would probably give Halo a read.

I've read so many mixed reviews on this one, I'm still debating whether or not I want to read it. That cover beckons to me though, it's beautiful! I love your reviews, you give such succinct, to-the-point thoughts, I tend to ramble a bit:)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I was totally hoping Gabriel would give Molly a chance! Even though it wouldn't have made sense for his character, it would have been so cute!
ReplyDeleteJenny: Oh thanks :) Your reviews are so witty and charming. You're a magnificent writer :)
ReplyDeleteMeredith: Yah yah yah! *happy dance* I'm not the only one :D I know it would be out of character for him but I so wanted him to slip a bit and be a bit human and captured by love. :) You made me day!

ReplyDeleteAh, it's still sitting on my TBR! But I'm glad to know you enjoyed it, I've read both good and bad reviews on this one, so I'm really curious to read it.
ReplyDeleteJessicaBookLover: Thanks darling :)
ReplyDeleteKay: I had that too. I love when that happens actually. It makes me more curious :)
Love love love your new review format! So darling. And such a great review. Your format really helps to weed through all the details and make it easier to know whether I might like a book. This may be one I pick up if I have a few spare hours and need something fun to read. Thanks for the review! :o)
ReplyDelete1stdaughter: Ahhh thank you :) And thank you for stopping by :) You always warm my heart!

ReplyDeleteI also hoped that Gabriel would of giving Molly a chance but he is so blah he won't and I really don't like Jake he was jut so evil! And I'm glad you liked the book to!
