Remember those Wendy's commercials from back in the day? The ads that proclaimed, "where's the beef"? Well that is how the Stork left me. The story wasn't bad, it was just thin on the juicy beef the title alludes to (storks, legends, and mystery).2 stars
But don't let me stop you. For a difference of opinion, check out these great reviews: YA Book Queen, i swim for oceans, Fuzzy.Coffee.Books, and Random Ramblings.

You know something about this one both called me...AND stopped me when I originally saw it released. It's good that you gave it a shot though....one of those "you never know unless you try" books. Love how you offer the difference of opinion site posts as well. Fab job AS USUAL my friend. ^_^ Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I love the cover but I probably couldn't read much of it.
ReplyDeleteOn a completely unrelated topic (the 'Where's the beef' comment brought it to mind), have you noticed how the current commercials seem to use mostly music from the 80s? Hubby laughs because now I only watch tv for the commercials. Then I sit & sing. Anyway - do you think it's because the people in design/concept are now our age?
Just a completely random thought...
Ah, sorry about that. Did you know they're bringing back the "Where's the Beef?" slogan?
ReplyDeleteaww!! that's too bad. i just got this one a couple of weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm a vegetarian so maybe I'd like it! LOL
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I've seen mostly great things about this one, but it's always fun to read a differing opinion:)
ReplyDeleteI wasn't too thrilled to read this one anyway... Sorry it was a disappointment chick!!!
ReplyDeleteNice cover byt too bad that the story fell short :(
ReplyDeleteI agree with you this book was thin and needed more answers. pretty cover
ReplyDeleteI saw your review on Goodreads this morning, and I have to say that you usually nail your reviews. I'll be passing on this one.
ReplyDeleteMy husband just got me a Where's the beef t-shirt from the commercial...so not about this book but I couldn't help thinking of it.
ReplyDeleteSorry that it didn't give you the beef. :) lol. :)
ReplyDeleteThen I will just say meh, and shrug, Not for me, and sorry that it was not for you
ReplyDeleteYeah, something about this book never really appealed to me. Glad to know I'm not missing much. Thanks Juju.
ReplyDeleteGMR: Funny how that happens right? :) And thank you!
ReplyDeleteGina Hott: I haven't. But you know, now that you mention this I will make sure to pay attention. Any specifically I should keep my eyes pealed for? 'Cause I LOVE 80s music. It's probably because they are trying to target our demographic. We're at the age that we're the buying demographic they want :)
Bermuda: They are? No way! I love it! I can't wait.
Carrie Hammock: Good luck! :)
Walltowall: LOL :) Maybe! LOL Good one!
Jenny Snark: Exactly :)
BB: Ahhh thanks :)
Jenny N: :)
Julie 5: Yes! Thank you. *high five* Another blogger was telling me the second book is even less about the storks. Boooo! ;)
Shannon: Thank you for having such faith in me :)
Jenny Girl: No way? That's awesome.
Nina: LOL :)
Blod: Thanks :)
Missie: No prob ;)
Oh how disappointing. I think it is great that you listed other opinions. I love the analogy :) Hope your next read is more enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteAlexis: Right? Two in a row is not good ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha- I remember the "where's the beef" slogan-love it! I am sorry this one disappointed you, but thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely be skipping Stork.
ReplyDeleteChristina: If you decide to try, try the library :)
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to read this for a long time but my library doesn't have it. I even downloaded the free sample from amazon and liked it. I am hoping it will be super cheap at the book fair the school I teach at hosts next week. It was there last time. Not sure if I want to pay full price or not.
ReplyDeleteLove that you posted links to other reviewer! Great idea!
Hmm... Think I'll wait on this one. I like the cover though.
ReplyDeleteI've seen this one around the blogosphere. The cover for the second book is really pretty. The story sounds interesting, but I think it's the title that makes me not want to read it.
ReplyDeleteThat cover is beautiful, but I'll take your word for it regarding the story. When it comes to my books I'm a meat and potatoes kind of gal.
ReplyDeleteAw, sorry this one wasn't good for you. I actually really enjoyed it (well except for the part about the rash on her head..that really grossed me out lol)!
ReplyDeleteI've been on the fence about this one. Thanks for your honesty. Will I jinx anything if I say that hopefully your NEXT read is more enjoyable? :)
ReplyDeleteI kept hearing how wonderful this book is but I never got around to reading it. I have cut back on my reading of YA paranormal anyway. I am sorry it proved disappointing to you.
ReplyDeleteok.... good to know! :)
ReplyDelete~Liz
I actually had this one from the library, read a few pages but never got into it. Glad to see it wasn't just me!
ReplyDeleteLOL- You crack me up...I tried to read this one a few months back, I made it maybe 60 pages...NOT GOOD!! And what was up with the whole pregnant vessels.... Tina did not like....
ReplyDeletesuch a classic commercial and saying.
ReplyDeleteI do hate when books allude to something so much more than what they actually are! This was one that I really wanted to read, but I've backed out. I haven't heard good things about it.
ReplyDeleteOh... I guess I won't be picking up this one then... thanks for sharing your views Ju! :)
ReplyDeleteSad...I have this one for review on audiobook so I've got my fingers crossed. Sometimes the audio can actually help it a bit. So we'll see! But great sum-up! :o)
ReplyDeleteAw, I'm so sorry you didn't enjoy it more. But we all can't like everything :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link!
Hahaha, I love that! "Where's the beef?" Thank you for that. I was on the edge about whether or not I would read this one, but I think I'll pass on it.
ReplyDeletehaha, love the analogy! That's disappointing to hear, especially since the mythology in this book seems to be somewhat uncharted territory (unlike Greek myths!)
ReplyDeleteDead Trees: Good luck! I wish I'd known you needed a copy before I donated mine ;)
ReplyDeleteMidnight Cowgirl: It is a great cover :)
Julie: Exactly. It's the stork thing that really captured me too :)
Jade: Me too :)
Little Miss Becky: LOL I liked the rash thing 'cause it connected her to what was happening :)
JessicaBookLover: No you won't and I thank you :) I've been on a bit of a bad streak.
Christina T: Thanks :)
Liz: :)
Alyssa: You too huh? :)
Tina: :) The pregnant vessel things was odd but I woulda dug it if they had fleshed it out more :)
VV: Agreed :)
Bluerose: Good call
Cherry: No prob doll :)
1stdaughter: Maybe the audio will be better *fingers crossed* for you.
YA: Amen :)
Penelope: :)
Small Review: Right? I was hoping for a whole new take. But this one doesn't have much and I heard book two has less.
I thought Frost was okay...but not amazing.
ReplyDeleteKelli: Right? And I remember you saying Frost didn't have much about the stork stuff :)
