After reading a review of Soul Surfer at scribbles, scripts & such, and Faith, Fashion, and Football, I sat down and watched the film for the first time yesterday. I was inspired by Bethany's faith, courage, and family. I was also amazed that such a young woman could be so strong. Now I can not wait to try the audio. Have you seen the film or read the book?

I've not read the book but I did watch the movie which I thought was excellent. I cried. Now I am interested in reading the book and plan to give it to my daughter for a Christmas gift.
ReplyDeleteI watched the film with my little cousins and was completely blown away by Bethany...we all were. She is truly amazing and a great inspiration for all.
ReplyDeletePeaceful: I cried too. Especially when her mom received that call. I can't imagine the horror. :) I think that is a beautiful gift to share with your daughter :)
ReplyDeleteMissie: Right? Truly :)
I haven't read it or seen it yet, but I really want to do both! :)
ReplyDeleteMy mom and sister watched the movie, and have been hounding me to watch it. lol
ReplyDeleteShannon: :) Right on
ReplyDeleteMisty: *smile* How old is your sis?
I need to see the movie with my girls :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the movie, but now it's a must! :)
ReplyDeleteI've not seen it but everyone keeps telling me that it's awesome.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it!
I haven't seen the movie or read the book, but I know it's got to be so amazing! One night when I don't mind crying (because I know I'll cry), I'll have to watch it.
ReplyDeleteThis one is on my wishlist, too. I watched the movie when it was in Theaters and I loved it! So inspiring and encouraging. I even did a Google search on Beth when I got home and found the book. Now I just need to get my hands on a copy.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Have you seen Courageous? That's a great movie, too!
Julie: SO should :)
ReplyDeleteNina: Yay! :)
Regina: It is. I think you and Zany would dig it :)
Meredith: I know what you mean ;) Not too much crying involved.
JessicaBookLover: O right on! I Googled her as soon as I finished too :)
I haven't seen Courageous but I saw the trailer yesterday and the trailer made me cry. So it must be good :)
Thanks SO much for the link, Juju! It is greatly appreciated. =)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Jessica: "Courageous" looks great, and I've heard it is wonderful - she is just another person who confirms that.
I haven't read it nor seen the movie but it looks like an amazing story of courage and bravery!

Rissi: No problem :) And it sounds like we both need to see Courageous :)
ReplyDeleteMelissa: Absolutely.
I really want to watch the movie, but I'm not positive I want to read it. I may change my mind, though. :)
ReplyDeleteI've heard the movie is really inspirational, so I'm sure the book is even more-so!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by :)
Bluerose: You'll definitely dig the movie :)
ReplyDeleteKelly: That's what I'm thinking :)
Don't know why this hasn't appealed to me, but after reading all this now I've got to go watch it.
ReplyDeleteMy kids have been talking about her ever since the third grade biography reports. She really made a big impression on them about not giving up your dreams, resilience and shark attacks.
ReplyDeleteMy girls like to surf though we have limited opportunity living on the East Coast and my middle child thinks that surfing in Hawaii will result in a shark attack. No more Shark Week marathons for her!
Alyssa: Oh good :)
ReplyDeleteMia: How very cool that they did reports on her :)
You've got a point on that shark week. I'm from Florida and once you go night fishing in Florida you realize sharks are everywhere there too.
Oh I haven't heard of this book or movie. ...Off to find out what it is all about.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good film to watch :)
ReplyDeleteAlexis: :)
ReplyDeleteCherry: Definitely :)
I haven't read the book or seen the movie. I've heard great things about this story.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the movie or read the book. I'm more likely to see the movie than read the book - not my genre.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Q: :)
ReplyDeleteTheresa: I feel ya :) Hope you decide to give it a go :)
I haven't read the book or seen the movie, but I agree that she's a very brave young woman.
ReplyDeleteBermuda: Amen. I think you would like it! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read this one either!
ReplyDeleteAths: *high five* Cool. I look forward to your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteNope, but I'm sure that its going to be one ispiring story that will make me cry.
ReplyDeleteJenny N: :) Made me cry
ReplyDeleteI have not seen the film or read the book but I read an article about Bethany and it was so inspiring. She seems like such a courageous young woman!
ReplyDeleteKelli: Doesn't she? The kind of young woman her parents can be reallly proud of. :)
ReplyDeleteoh, i haven't seen the movie but i have read the book :) it was a while ago, i really liked it. it was easy to read, stacks of pics and completely inspirational.

I haven't seen the movie or read the book, but the story intrigues me. I'm glad to hear it won your recommendation!
ReplyDeleteNomes: O right on. I didn't know it had tons of pics. Thanks for the tip :)
ReplyDeleteNatalie: :)
To be honest, I wasn't as impressed with the movie....especially after I had heard so much about the book from my Mom. Yep, she read it first (still on my to read eventually list) and had great things to say about it but the two differed from what I understand ....can't wait to hear what you're audio journey reveals!
ReplyDeleteGMR: Oh ok. Well now you've made me want the audio even more :)
