Well Said: Tension and Humor
Yesterday, for the first time since sweet Baby Whimsy arrived, I got to read. Yay! Here is a couple of sneak peaks.
"The dead didn't talk, but if you paid attention, sometimes they did tell you things."
"Just as cop humor is laced with dark understatement, cop tension is also between the lines. The veteran reporter in him could hear it in the silence - the way the room fell quiet when Detective Heat came into the pen and stepped up to address them. He saw it in the faced turned to her, all experienced, many showing the world-weariness years on the job had etched into them, but all full of attentiveness."
I've been wondering about Richard Castle books. I love that first quote. They sound interesting, I'll have to look into this author a little further. Glad you got to break and read for a bit.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a good one. I'm going to look it up - thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love Castle!
ReplyDeleteHaven't read these novels but I love the television show that inspired them. It's is AWESOME. ;D
ReplyDeleteOoh! I haven't watched Castle in a while, and I kinda miss it. Nice teaser!
ReplyDeleteRichard Castle? is he a real author? I'm intrigued.
ReplyDeleteI thought a little touch of whimsy in your package would make you happy . . .
Rissi & Freda: Me too! You have to try the books! :)
ReplyDeleteRegina & Jade: Yes do! :)
DM: I feel ya. I get withdrawls when I miss Castle. :)
Kaye: I'm sure it's a ghost writer :) But it's made to look like the books he's written in the show. They're total fun mysteries.
And yes you made my day!
DVRed new Castle last night..finally...looking forward to watching it tonight. Maybe it will inspire me to pick up Naked Heat! Heat Wave was definitely enjoyable. Look forward to your review.
ReplyDeleteHi, Juju! I love that first one!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI just started watching the latest season of Castle, and am loving it. I've had Heat Wave on my TBR list for awhile, I'll have to check out a copy soon :)
ReplyDeleteGreat teasers!
Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat teasers. I never read anything by Castle, but I'm liking these teasers of the book! :)
ReplyDeleteI need to read these series and yes I am fan of the show..okay Nathan :)
ReplyDeleteSince I enjoy watching the TV show, I've gone back and forth on whether I should give the books a shot or not. After reading that teaser, I'm leaning a little more towards yes!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore the first quote. I'm definitely going to share it with my mom, she's always saying that just because her mom isn't alive anymore doesn't mean that she still can't learn from her. Great teasers, thanks Juju! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is one sexy cover! I hadn't heard of this series before. I guess it's good if you are reading book 2!
ReplyDeleteAnd, Ay Valentina! She already wants all of mommy's time. :)
Melissa: It was good :) I loved the tension between Laney and Esposito. And Naked Heat is so far much better than Heat Wave.
ReplyDeleteYA: Oooo I hope you do :)
Julie: He's such a cutie! :)
Natalie: Definitely try it! :)
Katie: Your mom sounds like one wise lady ;) I'll have to remember her saying.
Missie: :) That she does.
Yes, those few reading moments will become very precious to you now!
ReplyDeleteNever read any of the books but do try to catch the show when I can - Nathan Frillion is HOT!
Oh, I like the teaser! Sort of sinister and mysterious. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog earlier!
Sounds interesting! I hope you're enjoying the book. :)
ReplyDeleteYay for baby letting you get some reading done. =) Are these books anything like the show?
ReplyDeleteWalltowall: *smile* :) I can totally see that being true.
ReplyDeleteJen D: They are the books he wrote on the show. Basically based on the show. They're a must for fans I think :)
@Juju: Then I'll definitely have to add them to the wish list. I love that show! Thanks Juju!
ReplyDeleteJen D: Yay! Me too!
ReplyDeleteI've never read the books or even seen the show...not sure why because there's always a buzz around the blogging community
ReplyDeleteLove your teaser, I am looking for something different for a change, will check this out.
ReplyDeleteAww, congratulations on your new addition! And I've been meaning to read the Nikki Heat books since they came out, I've been watching the show from day one. It's so refreshing - oddly, though how they manage to make murder stories refreshing I'll never know. I think it's all in Nathan's charisma. ;)
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this one before. Thanks for the teaser!!
ReplyDeleteI follow!

Oh I am so glad you got in some reading time.
ReplyDeleteTrue about reading time or true about Nathan Frillion??? LOL
ReplyDeleteNot my genre, but you make it sound so delectable I just gotta have a look ;)
ReplyDeleteAh yes, ever the popular series in the store too. Not certain it'd be my cup of tea though....
ReplyDeleteYay for being able to read! I haven't heard of this series, so I'll have to go check out your review of Heat Wave. Hope you and Baby Whimsy are doing well:)
ReplyDeleteGlad you're getting back to reading again! We've missed your frequent posts. :) This book sounds intriguing, too, great way to start off the new year.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you get to read again! This isn't my usual kind of book, but I'm intrigued. :)
ReplyDeleteStacy: Really? You gotta try the show!
ReplyDeleteJanet Ruth: Yay! :)
Casee Marie: Me too! Nathan's charisma and boyish charm keeps things light and funny. I like that it's about murder but it's not gory or too detailed.
Natasha: Thanks for visiting :)
Alexis & Meredith: Thanks :) Me too!
Walltowall: True to reading time being precious :) But also true to NF. I think he's super handsome.
Cherry: O delectable? What a compliment thank you!
GMR: Have you ever seen the show?
Jenny: I know :) And thank you! We are doing well.
Wendy: Ahhh thanks :) I will probably still be sporadic, but man oh man did it feel good to read.
Yay for reading time!
ReplyDeleteI must admit I've never watched Castle. I've never actually even had an interest in watching Castle. Now I'm curious. I knew it was based on a book, but never paid attention to which one. I'll have to see if it is on Netflix.
Christie: Actually the books are based on the show. In the show, Castle is a writer and writes books about his experiences with the precinct. The books are the books he supposedly wrote on the show. Sounds weird, but they're actually fun crime novels. Doesn't sounds like fun and crime belong in the same sentence, but Castle and these books pull it off :)
DeleteGreat quotes. I especially like that first one. It's so true!
ReplyDeleteSounds good! I have not read any book by him.
ReplyDeleteOh, Heat Wave was a quick, fun read. I'll be this one will be the same. Love everything Castle...and, of course Nathan Fillion.
ReplyDeleteMe too. He's such a fun cutie. Did you see he won the People's Choice Award?
DeleteGreat teaser! I have heard of this book so thanks for sharing! I hope you are doing well!!
ReplyDeleteI am totally intrigued to find out that there are books based on the TV show Castle. I had no idea! Thanks for sharing this. I hope you have been enjoying your time with Baby Whimsy. :)
ReplyDelete:) I am enjoying Baby Whimsy. She's officially one month old today. It's amazing how time flies.
DeleteOoh good teaser! We've just been introduced to the television version of Castle (yes, yes, I'm a bit behind), so I'm seriously curious about the books!
ReplyDelete:0) -m
Oh it's such fun! Enjoy!
DeleteVery intriguing! I need to buy that book for my husband.
ReplyDeleteFabulous idea! Then you can steal it afterwards and read it.
DeleteOh my! Enjoy those little moments of reading, they get to be more frequent as they get older but it's great to get in a few really good books here and there. This one really sounds great! Perfect teaser! ;o)
ReplyDeleteThank you! And thank you for the positive words. It makes me smile to think those moments to read will increase with time. :)
