Did you gals hear the sad news? Jan Berenstain (the co-creator of The Berenstain Bears) passed away at 88 years old a few days ago. Her husband Stan (the other co-creator) passed away in 2005. Over the years their son Michael has continued to help keep The Berenstain Bears alive. In my mind her and her husband are hanging out together again reminiscing and smiling that Michael will no doubt continue their legacy. I want to say, rest in peace Stan and Jan. I grew up with The Berenstain Bears and plan to raise Baby Whimsy with them too. I really do look forward to discovering them all over again with my wee one. Oh and still to this day I wish I could live in that tree house.

Oh how sad. But I guess she had a good life, 88 years old is a very respectable age to reach. I love the Berenstain Bears and hope they continue on through their son.
ReplyDeleteMe too :)
DeleteOh my! I remember (and probably still have somewhere) these books. Such a wonderful collection for young (and old) readers...the world of books lost another great soul. At least, the lessons and stories shared will live on through their works.
ReplyDeleteAmen :)
DeleteI too grew up with them and I still have all the books from my childhood (thanks to my wonderful mom). My sons are big fans and I plan to share them with my grandchildren as well (someday). This is sad news, but I agree with you, Juju. They are together again and happy. =O)
