Book Review: Lumberjack in Love

2¢ Worth: 1 hunka-hunka burning love + 1 city girl in need of a real man and some real lovin' = 1 steamy love story

Ok wait. I know what you're thinking. "Blah blah another romance. What evs." But no. Whoa Nelly. Wait. I'm not a big romance fan but I love Penny Watson romances. She somehow always manages to make her stories unique and her characters cool and jaunty. Lumberjack in Love is no exception. The sex is HOT (without being cliché or too descriptive) and the dialogue is snappy and blithe. The characters are fantastic. Marcus is the cat's meow and Ami has many sides. So if you're like me and have a not-so-secret love for outdoorsy alpha males or you need a mini sexy romance break, check out Lumberjack in Love. It's the perfect bubble bath read and it's light on the pocketbook! 4 stars

Wooed: Lumberjack in Love is sort of a love story to two very cool things: big hairy burly guys and Vermont.

Wrapping: What do you think of the cover? Romance covers are hard to do. Too sweet and they look too young. Too raunchy and they're a turn off. I sort of love this one.

Lumberjack in Love is a novella and is available for purchase at Amazon.com

  2. This sounds fun! I m not a fan of the cover but I think that is just me. Seomtimes the cartoon covers (unless on zombie books) are a turn off. That being said--I think I need a lumberjack :)

    1. Understandable :)
I tend to love them for some reason.

      You do girl!
And this book will reallly leave you wanting one.

    2. I agree with you, Felicia - not a big fan of the cover art. It can be a REAL challenge to get a good cover though - you are SO right in saying that, Juju. The ChrisitanFic novel I am reading now has a sweet design but the "actors" on the cover are not how I want to see Annie and Dylan. Such a dilemma. :-)

    3. Yes right?
Ok now I'm thinking you have to share the name of the book you're reading right now so I can look it up.

  8. Ok Juju - your reviews are pretty darn convincing, for the most part, but unfortunately I don't think even the most persuasive reviewer is going to get me to pick up a romance book that involves "HOT" sex. :-) I'm a totally a PG reader lol. I'll just stick to my silly MG fiction and innocent YA romance books thank you very much. :-). I'm glad you enjoyed it though. Gosh, I sound like a real prude..... I'm not in real life though I swear lol! (I'm married with children)

    1. That's ok :)
Not everything I read is for everyone.
I'm just glad when my readers find something that works for them.
      :)
And I LOVE MG so don't feel bad.
We can always connect on that.

You don't sound like a prude at all. I promise. :)

  9. Loved this review! I am not usually a fan of romance novels. They are just too steamy for me. But, I love witty conversation. The cover is too cartoonish for me.

  10. I am not big on traditional romance novels, but this one sounds promising and not like your typical romance. I love that you say it's perfect for a bubble bath...that sounds perfect right about now! Great review, Juju! And that cover caught my eye- not what I was expecting!

  20. This cover seems a bit cheesy. It's hard for me to take it seriously. But I love the sound of this one for sure. I would give it a try.

  21. Hmm this one sounds interesting! Haha. That cover makes me laugh. I think because it's silly and it knows it. Which is good, because most romance covers make me embarrassed to hold. LOL

  22. Outdoorsy alpha male? Mmm...naah...no wait...well...grrr...

Allright, I'm in already!! :) hehe

    p.s. I agree, such a cute cover!!

  23. The cover is rather kitschy, isn't it? It works though, as if it knows that romance covers done poorly are just asking for ridicule. That and the fact that romance novels are not meant to be taken seriously, as many of the covers may imply. I like it. I'll have to check it out!
