I want to hug this book for being so good. For beating my slump. For keeping me up till one thirty in the morning reading. Talking to the Dead by Bonnie Grove is proof that even when a summary doesn't sound like something you might like, if a book is written well enough it doesn't matter. I almost never read about widows and drama and pain. But I was sucked in. Sucked into Kate's loss, her hearing her dead husband's voice, her journey through a dark hole of pain, betrayal, and lies. This woman falls apart and shatters but I found her story nothing short of captivating. I couldn't look away and I never got bored. It is rare that I can say that about a drama. 5 stars
Word to the wise: This book is considered Christian Fiction, but rest assured it is not preachy and Kate's relationship with God doesn't take place until near the end.
So what I'm saying is, try it. Especially if you liked The Language of Flowers.

LOL :) Right? If only I wasn't so busy with the holidays and my baby's upcoming birthday.
DeleteSounds like this has the potential to be seriously depressing, but if you were so sucked into the story then it MUST be good!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely did. But I think the mystery of what's going on kept it from getting depressing for me. :)
