Book Review: Talking to the Dead

I want to hug this book for being so good. For beating my slump. For keeping me up till one thirty in the morning reading. Talking to the Dead by Bonnie Grove is proof that even when a summary doesn't sound like something you might like, if a book is written well enough it doesn't matter. I almost never read about widows and drama and pain. But I was sucked in. Sucked into Kate's loss, her hearing her dead husband's voice, her journey through a dark hole of pain, betrayal, and lies. This woman falls apart and shatters but I found her story nothing short of captivating. I couldn't look away and I never got bored. It is rare that I can say that about a drama. 5 stars

Word to the wise: This book is considered Christian Fiction, but rest assured it is not preachy and Kate's relationship with God doesn't take place until near the end. 

 So what I'm saying is, try it. Especially if you liked The Language of Flowers.

  15. You got me! I'm not big on drama, but you made this sound interesting!! O.o Also, I usually avoid Christian fiction. And I'm a Christian!! lol It usually annoys me because it sounds too fake somehow. But you made it sound like this is an exception then! :)

  22. Sounds like an emotional read. Hearing the dead husband has me intrigued. And YAY for ginally finding the book to pull you out of your slump! Let's hope they continue.

    I started it at about 7pm and finished it at 12:30am. I read extremely fast, but I got every juicy morsel!!
