So I'm curious sugar pies, how many of you dolls are cooking for Thanksgiving? Whatcha making? Are you hosting or bringing a dish? We will be celebrating with Mr. Whimsy's side of the family and I'm bringing Chef Michael Symon's Green Gratin with spinach instead. I'm so excited. Plus, with any luck, I will finish my Midnight in Austenland audio during the drive. So dish dish dish I want to here what you are making or looking forward to eating?
More Whimsy:
Please note: My sweets, I am mega behind on responding to comments. I blame summer. But rest assured, I do read them, love them, appreciate each of you, and promise to catch up. Soon.

I made an executive decision today - we're going out to eat on Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
DeleteYou go girl! What kind of food you going for? :)
DeleteI am extremely fortunate in that I just have to bring the kiddos. No cooking for me, but I might throw together a side dish just because I want to. Years ago I had dinner at a Ritz Carlton and had this wonderful creamed corn. I just found the recipe card and am thinking about making it.
ReplyDeleteDon't you love that? No pressure :)
DeleteThat's what they told me too but I too wanted to make a side dish.
Creamed corn at the Ritz? Wow! That sounds so metropolitan and fabulous!
Please let me know how it turns out.
Don't die of shock but I am eating at other people's places. I have no idea what is on the menu but I have been amping up my pinterest with Christmas recipes. I am ready to cook for work. They will get lots of fun eats!
ReplyDeleteYay! :D
DeleteNice!!!
Enjoy!
I am hosting :/ 21 people! *jumps out window*
ReplyDeleteMy hubby will cook the turkey (as I'm a veggie and don't touch meat) and I will be making a tossed garden salad, sour cream smashed potatoes, green bean casserole, herbed corn, broccoli and cheese casserole, cranberry stuffing, rolls, and a pumkin pie and if I have time and leftover pumpkin maybe some pumpkin/vanilla flan. My sister and mother-in-law are also each bringing another dessert.
Hope you and the Whimsy clan have a wonderful holiday!
Wow! Newlywed hosts 21! You go girl! *high five* Are you nervous? Is this your first time hosting?
DeleteFantastic spread!
Enjoy! Have a beautiful holiday and let me know how it goes, k? :D
Wasn't my first time...we did x-mas last year with about 18 people and I've hosted Thanksgiving in the past as a single gal for my family 8-10 peeps! LOL
DeleteWhat what? You're a secret Martha Stewart like pro? I'm impressed ;)
DeleteI'm cooking! We make the regular turkey, potatoes, stuffing, green beans. We are doing more of a Thanksgiving lunch so everyone can go to other places. I'm hoping to spend time reading :)
ReplyDeleteYayyyy! You go girl! *high five*
DeleteSounds like a whole lot of fun... I won't be cooking, my hubby will prepare the meal. I have to work at the hospital for 12hr shift - no fun.... but someone's got to do it. This year its me...
ReplyDeleteYay! Sounds like you have good hubby!
DeleteGood luck! I hope it's a slow day at work.
Ooh that looks really good! Have you made it before? I'd like to know how it is. Are you substituting spinach for all of the greens? I'm making broccoli gratin and a sausage and artichoke stuffing to take to my parents' house!
ReplyDeleteI haven't. I saw him do it and I'm inspired. He inspires me allot actually.
DeleteI am subbing spinach for all of them. *fingers crossed*
oOooooooo sausage and artichoke stuffing? *drooling* Did you invent the recipe or is it one of your own?
I'm not sure yet what I'll be making but since I've found Pinterest I'm pretty sure I'll find something good. Hahaha! I hope you and all the Whimsys have a great Thanksgiving. :-)
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Renee
Yay for Pinterest.
DeleteGood luck and be careful buying your supplies at the grocery store. It's a mad house today.
A very happy and blessed turkey day to you too! :)
My mother is hosting and I will be helping her cook and bake starting tomorrow. We are making Martha Stewart's triple chocolate pumpkin pie (which we've never made before)and trying some other dishes we haven't made before too. I think the turkey and the scalloped corn are the only traditional dishes we are making. Should be interesting...Have a happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteNice :)
DeleteExciting!
Oooooooooooooooo that pie sounds amazing.
A very happy Thanksgiving to you too doll!
The Green Gratin looks really good! I may have to try it with turkey bacon sometime. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I bet that would be great.
DeleteWe were supposed to go away but we changed our plans...I ordered everything cooked from Whole Foods!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! That should be delish!
DeleteYou are in luck! I just posted my thanksgiving dinner post! Dinner is at our house this year, so I am making all the main items and others are bring stuff.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to eat is the stuffing! "My" stuffing of course, wink wink.
Happy Thanksgiving babe!
You go girl! Whoot whoot!
DeleteDo you do anything special to that Wendy stuffing?
A very happy Thanksgiving to you and your clan too doll! :)
We always go to the in-laws & I just have to make pies. YUM! Lemon Meringue and apple this year.
ReplyDeleteApple! FABulous! From scratch? Have you made it before?
DeleteOhh! I can't wait to hear what you think of Midnight in Austenland. Have a great Thanksgiving! I am going to my aunt's house and bringing dessert, but I don't think I am going to have time to make pie (thanks to watching my little one all day.) I hope to make pumpkin chocolate chip cookies though, because they are easy and I can make them quickly. I hope you have a great day tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThank you! You too :)
DeletePumpkin chocolate chip cookies? Wow! I've never heard of it but it sounds fantastic.
We're so boring, we always make the same things! Traditional turkey, pie, mashed potatoes, green beans, etc. But it's just the two of us, so we can't get too crazy, and we'd miss all that if they weren't there. :) What are you going to make, Juju?
ReplyDeleteHappy, happy Thanksgiving!
Wendy @ The Midnight Garden
Nice! There is nothing boring with going traditional. ;)
DeleteI'm bringing Green Gratin with spinach instead. It should be FAB.
Have fun!
A very very happy Thanksgiving to you too :)
That green gratin looks interesting! I think my family felt sorry for me this year, so I got the easy way out with Reese's Pie on both sides(yep, two big meals in one day). No cooking, though! :) I did make a corn casserole last night for my husband's work "party" today.
ReplyDeleteI hope the Whimsy family has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Awwww you milk that sympathy sugar.
DeleteThank you :) We had an awesome Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving! Our Thanksgiving has long come and gone, but all you Americans have me craving stuffing and cranberry sauce :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you're enjoying Midnight in Austenland - I keep forgetting that it's out. I really need to read it!
Thank you! A very happy Thanksgiving to you too!
DeleteThat's right. Yours was a bit ago. :)
I do loooove me some stuffing.
Pecan pie & Sweet Potato Pie. That's what I'm going with this year. Yup :)
ReplyDeleteWhoot! I like how you roll :)
DeleteOOoh, the pies sound wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWe do immediate family and then an extended family dinner in the evening (we all live near enough to each other to make that happen). I'm trying to be very mindful of what I'm eating to avoid derailing my progress...but monkey bread is a must have (this is basically a sweet bread, cinnamon, yumminess). Hope you have a fabulous holiday
ReplyDeleteOh nice. Best of both worlds.
DeleteOoooo mmmmy gosh! Monkey bread! Why does no one in my family make this? I must bring this up.
A happy awesome holiday to you too doll!
Happy happy Thanksgiving Juju to you and your sweet family! I hope it's a day filled with love and lots of turkey!
ReplyDeleteI made corn casserole, red velvet cupcakes and peanut butter chocolate chip cookies (even though we're all trying to eat healthier these are must-haves for Thanksgiving!)
Thank you sweetie. The very same to you and your clan. :)
DeleteOooo corn casserole!
Ya know what I say, all diets are off for Thanksgiving ;)
I'm making cranberry mojitos! (and I guess some food, too) :^)
ReplyDeleteShut the front door! I want one! ;)
DeleteYou know, this year I made nothing. It sounds and feels so strange, but it's been wonderful visiting my parents and enjoying my mom's incredible cooking. She made an unbelievable green bean and mushroom tart with homemade puff pastry. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful day with your hubby's family. And I definitely hope you know how thankful I am for your friendship. :o)
I bet!!!
DeleteThat sounds AMAZING.
Thank you. We sure did. I am so glad you had an awesome day too! :)
I love our friendship *HUG*
We don't celebrate that holliday, but I do love to eat. lol. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful day!
Ha! LOL Thanks :) I do too.
DeleteI spent it at a friend's house and we made fruit turkeys!! If you've never seen them before, you should look them up in Pinterest! They're so creative!! I'd never even heard of them before until she showed me a pic. ;) They're so bizarre I wrote a short post about them in my new blog here.
ReplyDeleteAND...we made our own rolls!! OMG...I almost died!! And I'm not even kidding...because this morning I woke up with a major belly ache from over-gorging!! XD
P.S. Btw, this is Alejandra, from Musings in Red. I've split my old blog into two: an inspirational blog, "Parasol Dreams", and a book review blog that is just in the makings now! :) I've been dying to have a blog officially dedicated to JUST book reviews for quite a while, so I'm quite excited about this! :) And the reason I'm boring you with all this information is that I'm just letting all the blogs I follow know about my new blog name so that they don't think I've abandoned them. Or that I died. Or some other tragical thing like that. :)
Fruit turkeys! How fun!
DeleteI've seen them and love them.
Fresh homemade rolls? I would SO make my self sick too!
I follow you on Twitter so I read about your move this morning. :)
I'm off to visit your new site now.
I cooked my butt off yesterday for Thanksgiving. Had a blast! I just posted about it on my blog. Your blog is too cute! I found it through Parason Dreams! Alejandra's site.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.averysweetblog.com/
Hi Kim! Thank you so much for visiting. I'm so glad you found me. I'm on my way to see your site.
DeleteWe don't celebrate Thanksgiving (sadly) but wish you had an amazing day! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you :) I would mail you leftovers if I could ;)
DeleteAh... my friends who comes cooks and I do the dishes :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Now that is one fab cooking arrangement :)
DeleteI love Thanksgiving food so very much. This year I did green beans and pecans sauteed in olive oil and garlic (super simple and healthy, and so freaking yummy), and I made a pumpkin pie made with agave and almond milk. Also super yummy. :0) And I love spinach so I totally want to try that gratin recipe. Mmm.
ReplyDeleteO that sounds nice!
DeleteI bet the agave gave the pumpkin pie an amazing flavor.
Delish!
I want your pumpkin pie recipe :)
Thanksgiving is just my husband and I and how I get flustered with the meal every year is beyond me!
ReplyDeleteThis year we had turkey, stuffing, green beans and mashed potatoes. My turkey finished cooking almost 40 minutes earlier than I thought it would so we were scrambling to get everything else done. lol
Awww *hug* That sounds wonderful! And on my favorite TV show (The Chew) they recommend letting the turkey rest about that long so perhaps your timing was perfect? :)
DeleteMidnight in Austenland sounds fun. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThanks :) I did. I hope yours was lovely too.
DeleteIt was just our little family this year which was nice. No stress and time to relax. I cooked and just did a French Silk Pie as a friend gave us an apple pie (although my husband said my Dutch Apple Pie is better :). Traditional all the way: turkey, stuffing, gravy, corn and rolls.
ReplyDeleteNice :)
DeleteO YUM!
French Silk Pie sounds lovely.
Thanks so much for visiting :)
My Thanksgiving was DELICIOUS! I have three families (Mom's side, Stepdad's side, and BioDad's side) AND my boyfriend's side so I get extra fat about the holiday time!
ReplyDeleteHope you and your family had a great holiday my dear!
Amber Elise @ Du Livre
Yay :)
DeleteHa! LOL You have to save room :) I use to have to do that when my Dad was still alive. :)
Thank you we did and I'm so glad to hear your's was great too.
lol, we bought the whole kit and kaboodle from Boston Market and had my parents over for dinner. No fuss no muss. It was delish and would definitely do it again next year. I have never made a turkey.
ReplyDeleteHope your thanksgiving was wonderful. Bring on the Christmas season and its cookies :)
You go girl! I love Boston Market.
DeleteWe did and I am SO glad your's was good and stress free :)
Oh we always try to cook in our house...with Mom's sage advice and direction of course. ^_^ We had turkey, homemade stuffing, corn, peas, gravy, potatoes, yams, brussels sprouts (my recipe! Roast fresh ones with a little onion and olive oil in the oven for about 35-45 minutes...yum!), cranberry sauce...okay gotta stop. Making myself hungry!
ReplyDeleteYay! Nice :)
DeleteYUM!
I did much more cooking this year and I didn't burn anything. It is amazing how I'm a perfectly good cook all the rest of the year but manage to embarrass myself during the holidays. Not this year. So far.
ReplyDeleteYay!!!!!!
DeleteI know you mean. I'm good until under pressure. I try to avoid cooking for my in laws at alll costs.
SO glad it went well doll :)
