Contest & Cooking with the Authors of Demons at Deadnight

I am SO incredibly excited to be featuring some of my favorite folks today. The Kirks of Teens Read and Write are here sharing a recipe from the new book Alyssa and Eileen Kirk cowrote called Demons at Deadnight. Yay! Check it out:

Aren't they the cutest? Don't these cookies look delicious?
I can almost smell them and can not wait to try this recipe.

Now let me tell you more about the book Demons at Deadnight...
For seventeen-year-old Aurora Lahey, survival is a lifestyle.

Aurora has the crappiest superpower on the planet. And it’s just unleashed a hit squad from hell. Demons are on the hunt, salivating to carve her carcass into confetti.

The Hex Boys—mysterious, hunky, and notorious for their trails of destruction—have the answers Aurora needs to survive. But their overload of deadly secrets and suspicious motives makes trusting them a potentially fatal move.

The battle to save her family, herself, and stop demonic domination may cost Aurora everything worth living for, and force her to reveal her own dark secrets. But no worries. She needs the Hex Boys to pull this off, and, chances are, teaming up with these guys will get her killed anyway.

The Bookish Brunette called it, "AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!"
In the Hammock Book Reviews called it, "a no holds barred adventure."
Mindful Musings called it, "well-worth the read."
YA Book Queen called it, "so fun...constantly grinning."
The Unread Reader called it,
"so clever...I lost count of how many times I highlighted paragraphs and bookmarked pages."

So I have just one question for you: Are you ready to read this book yet?

Thanks to the lovely Alyssa and Eileen, one of my readers will win a paperback copy of Demons at Deadnight. To enter simply comment with your email address below. You must be a resident of the U.S. to win. A winner will be selected and announced March 14th.

Now it's time for my secret word: "Infiltrates"
What the secret word for?

If you visit all the tour stops and collect all the secret words, starting March 9th you can enter to win a Kindle fire with a Demons at Deadnight skin! Visit the AEKirk Blog Tour Page for details and a list of tour stop locations.

New Flash: The Berenstain Bears Lose Jan

Did you gals hear the sad news? Jan Berenstain (the co-creator of The Berenstain Bears) passed away at 88 years old a few days ago. Her husband Stan (the other co-creator) passed away in 2005. Over the years their son Michael has continued to help keep The Berenstain Bears alive. In my mind her and her husband are hanging out together again reminiscing and smiling that Michael will no doubt continue their legacy. I want to say, rest in peace Stan and Jan. I grew up with The Berenstain Bears and plan to raise Baby Whimsy with them too. I really do look forward to discovering them all over again with my wee one. Oh and still to this day I wish I could live in that tree house.

Whimsy Update: Ciao Baby! to Memes

I have a confession to make. I can no longer do day-of-the-week memes. It's not that I don't love certain memes. It's that with my new super awesome job as Baby Whimsy's mama, I have to blog when I can and that means I can't always align my time with certain days of the week. Sure I can set up a post for a certain day but I may not have time to comment back on those days.

I bid adieu to Musical Monday, Cover Crazy Monday, Treasure Trove Tuesday, Waiting on Wednesday, Wishlist Wednesday, Etsy Friday, Friday Finds, Foreign Cover Friday, Book Beginning Friday, Friday Finest, Friday 56, Saturday Snapshot, Quote-It Saturday, In My Mailbox Sunday, and Christian Fiction Sunday.

From now I am going to post the song or cover that I like, the book I am waiting or wishing for, what I found on the internet that I want to share with you, the international covers, excerpts or quotes, pictures, or freebies that come my way whenever they come to me and whenever I can.

So even though I will continue to visit your meme posts and have nothing but love for day-of-the-week memes, this is where me and memes officially part ways.

Yackety-Yak: Midnight in Paris

"No subject is terrible if the story is true, if the prose is clean and honest,
and if it affirms courage and grace under pressure."
~ Ernest Hemingway's character in the film Midnight in Paris

So after a little pleading recently, I convinced Mr. Whimsy to sit down and watch Midnight in Paris with me. I must confess, I really connected with Gil and Adriana's love for bygone eras. But what we both really dug was getting to see all the famous writers and artists Gil gets to hobnob with when he time travels to 1920s Paris. This got me thinking, if you could travel back in time and visit a certain writer in a certain city who, where, when would you pick? Who would you meet? Where would you like to meet them? Would you want to meet them in their hometown or during their travels? When would you rather meet them? In their youth, during the prime, or perhaps later in life when they could reflect back? Will you day dream with me?

Talking About The Vow

The Vow opened this weekend. Did you see it? And did you know The Vow is actually based on a true story? Apparently two months after they got married, a serious car accident left the wife with absolutely no recollection of her husband. Their story (The Vow: The True Events that Inspired the Movie) has been released as a book as well. I will definitely be adding it to my TBR.

Well Said: Walk With

"Walk with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the cheerful, the planners, the doers, the successful people with their heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground. Let their spirit ignite a fire within you to leave this world better than when you found it..." ~Wilfred Peterson
Don't you love it? Now I feel like wearing some polka dots and going for a picnic.
