Now tell me my lovelies, which of the audios you listened to in 2012 were your favorites? Do you have one you recommend to everyone?
The fine print: 2012 Golden Earbuds Winners who are willing to provide me with an address, will receive some sort of fun treat in the mail from yours truly. Want to see some more audiobook awards? After conceptualizing and writing this post, I searched the net and found another fellow audio listener also does annual awards. Pop over to Audiobook Heaven for his Halo Awards 2012.

Hurray! Yeah! I love awards and yours are quite yummy!
ReplyDelete11/22/63 was probably my favorite audiobook of 2012. I'm listening to Stories I Only Tell My Friends right now.
ReplyDeleteI need to check that one out. I keep hearing awesome things about it.
DeleteYay! I can't wait to hear what you think.
Oh the top three are: The Fault in Our Stars, 4th Grave Beneath my Feet, and Timeless!
ReplyDeleteOoooo I recently bought The Fault in Our Stars on audio.
Delete:)
Oh, I can't wait to hear what you think of it!
Delete:)
DeleteI think waiting for the right time. You know that moment when you need something reflective.
What a fantastic shout-out to the talented folks.
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteI've only listened to part of an audio book before and I just didn't like the narrator so I'm going to have to check out these books on tape first! I need to read Ida B, so I might just listen to it instead since you gave it some of your golden earbuds! :) Thanks Juju!
ReplyDeleteOooo Ida B is excellent. The narrator Lili Taylor is fantastic!
DeleteI read Anna Dressed in Blood but I've heard that the audio was amazing. Even though I don't like audio books I think I'm going to have to give that one a try.
ReplyDeleteIt gets mixed reviews. I loved it but some folks couldn't get pass the narrator August Ross.
DeleteOh I love your Awards! I didn't listen to any audiobooks last year but I may have a list for next year. :)
ReplyDeleteYay! :)
DeleteI knew it would happen eventually. I took my first step into the world of audio with the Rob Lowe book you have recommended. I ran with Rob this a.m. He is a good guy - you are so right. I'm loving it.
ReplyDeleteOMG it made my day when I read this. Whoot whoot!
DeleteOk I'm making a note of all of these! I think some are on sale on audible. I wish I could have overlooked the narrator for Anna Dressed in Blood, but I promise to read the book. Great List!
ReplyDeleteI remember reading your thoughts on it on Twitter. So bummed it didn't work for you. But I bet the book will rock you. :)
DeleteWeirdly, I didn't listen to a whole bunch of audios in 2012, instead I spent a lot of time with my kindle in a backpack and listening to books via the "text-to-speech" mechanism. Only a true weirdo can enjoy books in this insane fashion. However, out of the audio books I did listen to this past year I have to say "NUMBERS" was my favorite, mainly because the narrators accent was PERFECT for the MC and the story.
ReplyDeleteYou're one of the few gals I know who uses it. You go girl! It must be nice because you get to switch between the text to speech and reading without having to pay for both.
DeleteHeh, oh brilliant! I'm always on the lookout for good audiobooks and good narrators so I appreciate the award-worthy recommendations here. In 2012, I really loved the audiobooks for White Cat and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
ReplyDeleteThanks :) I reallly dug White Cat too.
DeleteI need to check out The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
I still don't listen to audiobooks, but I love your choices! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteI don't listen to audiobooks very often, but I enjoyed The Help, Water for Elephants, Legend, and The Time Traveler's Wife. :)
ReplyDeleteOOo those are all excellent I hear. Did you listen to them this year? :)
DeleteMy favorite audios from 2012 in no order were:
ReplyDeleteThe Wolves of Mercy Falls Series (books 1-3) - Maggie Stiefvater
The Night Strangers - Chris Bohjalian (this one started off so off...dual narration (3rd and 2nd person) but I soon got used to it and loved it.
Inheritance Series (books 2-4) - Christopher Paolini This narractor is one of my all time favs!!!!
The Night Circus - Erin Morganstern
Oooooooooo I do need to try Maggie's books on audio.
DeleteNight Strangers sounds spooky good. Have you reviewed it? I couldn't find it on your site.
Im for sure checking out the Rob Lowe audio!!! I think my favorite audio in 2012 was Grown up Kind of Pretty, I loved the authors voice...:D
ReplyDeleteYay! OMG I agree completely. I looooooove Joshilyn Jackson. She made an insta-fan out of me with that book.
DeleteI need to check my library for the Rob Lowe one. :)
ReplyDeleteYes please :)
DeleteI have yet to listen to any audios. I should try it out sometime.
ReplyDelete:) Definitely
DeleteMy students LOVE Savvy and I'm glad to hear you liked it. I should check out The Language of Flowers..definitely seems like something I'd enjoy.
ReplyDeleteO Savvy is fun.
DeleteAnd yes definitely on The Language of Flowers.
I really enjoyed Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett on audio, especially since it's such a massive book. I think Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta was probably my favorite audio of the year though :)
ReplyDeleteO cool. I can't wait for that review. :)
DeleteFabulous post!
ReplyDeleteI failed miserably at listening to audiobooks. I only listened to DIVERGENT by Veronica Roth (loved it so much, Emma Galvin did such a great job narrating), and began 4 or 5 other ones that didn't quite keep my attention.
But I started listening to WATER FOR ELEPHANTS a couple days ago, and am enjoying it (I already read and loved the book, so that probably helps).
Why thank you sweetie!
DeleteI recently bought Divergent. :)
Good luck with Water for Elephants. I bet it's amazing.
I fail at audiobooks Juju! I haven't listened to a single one! I think it's because they're so much longer than the book itself, and I can read so much faster than I can listen. One of these days I'm going to try one though:)
ReplyDeleteI feel ya. Especially for fast readers. :)
DeleteDespite having a two hour commute (round-trip) to work, I've been listening to podcasts more than I've been listening to audiobooks. I think it's because I can tune out a podcast in bad weather and not feel like I've missed something. Some of your favorites I need to read (or listen to), though :)
ReplyDeleteAwwww really. I understand though. ;)
DeleteLove this post! I need to listen to all of these.
ReplyDelete:D
DeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE this idea! And hi-five for Lucy in the Sky. Such a good book! The author totally captured that time period.
ReplyDeleteYay! Agreed! I feel like I understand people that grew up in that time period better now. :)
DeleteHmmm...best audiobooks I listened to in 2012? There were SO many! American Gods, The Help, The Stand, IT, American Psycho, Gone Girl, 11/22/63, A Discovery of Witches and Shadow of Night, The Art of Racing in the Rain, Redshirts. I had a pretty outstanding year for audios!
ReplyDeleteRight on! *high five* I soooo need to try Art of Racing in the Rain, 11/22/63, and The Help.
Deletethis is awesome! so many great titles to choose from!

Thanks Kimmy :)
DeleteNow, you are making me want to buy Anna Dressed In Blood... and I don't have much will power....
ReplyDeleteMake sure to sample if first darling ;)
Deletewhat a great list of audio books. I like the title of your award :)
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteI really loved Eve and Adam :) Great choices!
ReplyDeleteI must try that one :)
DeleteI have never read an audio book. Before you shake your head let me just say how annoying it is to try to get one from the library... It's annoying. I don't know how to do it. That being said I've read and really liked Ida B. as well as read and absolutely LOVED and favorited Savvy. It's such an incredible book. Have you read the second book?
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, great award title (:
I haven't! I need to though. Is it as good? :)
DeleteThanks :)
And thanks for visiting.
I feel ya on audios from the library. It is tough. You should check if they have the kind you can download borrow.
Beauty Queens was pretty awesome! Libba Bray did the reading and she is amazing.
ReplyDeleteYes! I need to check that one out.
DeleteA lot of these ones are on my TBR list, but haven't read any of them yet!
ReplyDeleteThat happens to me to when I visit people's lists.
DeleteOh, I've been meaning to pick up The Language of Flowers, so happy to see it on your list :) Anna Dressed in Blood too! I thought it would be too creepy for me, but the reviews sounds too good to pass up!
ReplyDeleteI didn't listen to any audiobooks last year... I did attempt Incarnate, twice, but the narrator was really nasally and annoying to me, lol! Hope to pick a better one soon!
I thought that originally about Anna Dressed in Blood and I LOOOOVED it.
DeleteOooo nasally is annoying!
I used to listen to a lot of audio books (I had an office job) but then I jsut stopped. I should really start back up, maybe aduiobooks will make me more willing to do chores! :)
ReplyDeleteAmber Elise @ Du Livre
It helps with my chores ;) and errands.
DeleteI got hooked on audios last year, and love them so much for some of the mindless tasks I do at work. I only listened to about ten audios last year but my favorite was Dodger by Terry Pratchett.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your list. I'm adding Lucy in the Sky to my wishlist :)
Oh I have to check that out :)
DeleteI'm so glad to hear that.
Thanks for popping by.
I ADORE your blog name btw.
wow, your blog looks so different!! :) thanks for the tips on the audios!
ReplyDeleteYah. I'm playing with it. :)
DeleteOMG, what a brilliant feature! And I'm totally digging your new layout, too!
ReplyDeleteI really want to try the Rob Lowe audio. :)
Thank you! :) I've been tweaking it.
DeleteYou SO should.
Oh I'm loving your awards!
ReplyDeleteLooking at the changes and I'm loving that too :)
Thank you :)
DeleteYour title for these awards ROCKS! :)
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you :)
DeleteNot an audio book fan myself but Savvy was a fabulous read and Anna Dressed in Blood is totally on my wish list! Love the post!
ReplyDeleteThanks sweetie :)
