Whimsy Update: Confessing & Simplifying

Confession time girls. Pull in a little closer, will ya? I am a little tired of talking about only books. I know, right? Maybe it's the cold weather, hibernating, or new year but I have been doing some soul searching and while I love my blog and love books, it's time. Time to get more real and creative. I don't know what is coming down the pike but I do know I am going to let it flow. I hope you'll stay. I heart you gals. 2013 is turning out to be my year of simplifying and taking things to the next level both on and off-line. Hence the new cleaner look and construction notice earlier this week. I'm excited. This just feels right. Oh before you go, check out my updated About section.

  1. I am redoing my personal blog for that reason :) I want to talk about my life in general. I thought about combining the two but I think my personal blog will be a little less known :)

I can't wait to read your updates!

  9. I love the blog's new look and can't wait to see what changes you are up to. I definitely can't wait to read more about you and your life--after seeing your handwriting on the chalkboard in your picture-- I am so jealous! Will you be talking more about being a mom? I hope so! Your comment about yoga pants made me laugh- now that I'm home with my baby, that's my uniform of choice. In fact, I am wearing them as I type this. ha.

Yes! Not necessarily talking about the choices but sharing the things about motherhood that I love.

LOL yoga pants rock! They're so comfy and versatile! ;)

  21. I'm loving the new design! I think we're all diversifying our blogs a little this year. I know that I'm having fun talking about things other than books on mine and I'm seeking out blogs that do the same.

  22. I'm always comment number on billionty when I finally get here. You're a popular one, lovely. ;)

I am so excited that you'll be talking more than books. Since I have two blogs I love reading non-bookish posts, too. And to be honest, I have stopped reading most book-related posts and blogs because I just don't have the time and I can't let myself be tempted by more books when I need to get through the ones I already have AND I have school work to do. I recently unsubscribed from so many blogs because I just wasn't getting to them. Yours, obviously, wasn't one of the many and I am SO happy that you're going to branch out in your blogging. I shall move you from my Book Blog folder in my reader to another more suitable one for you. xoxoxo

  26. Lovely blog transition! Hey, I like hearing about more than just books so I'll be here, even if you start talking about gardening. ;O) Seriously though, you have to take your blog in a direction that makes YOU happy so I applaud your decision.

  27. Good for you! I think it's a good thing and will also open you up to new readers for your blog. My previous blog was only about fashion and I found it constricting. So I changed to A Very Sweet Blog where I can talk about any and everything SWEET! I get bored covering the same ole things. I want variety and I'm a much happier person. Can't wait to see the new changes!

  36. Totally understandable! I've been in this state for more than a year now and I'm just letting it take me wherever than make myself go somewhere. There are so many things I want to do and I don't feel right about forcing myself to only one hobby. Good luck, gal! We'll be here, whatever you choose to do. :)

I follow quite a few non-bookish blogs, actually, and enjoy the different content. AND love the About Me page - your writing and your pics there!!

  45. Oh I'm so excited! Honestly, I completely understand. One part of me ventures to my blog to talk about books and the other to connect with my friends. I find myself wanting to confide things...that do not have to do with books. Ahhh...this is going to be fun :)

  46. I absolutely ADORE the new look. And I agree with blogging about more than books; if that's what you feel like doing, then that's what you should be doing. :) After all, us readers are complex individuals too, and we do have interests outside of books!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh Juju, you can pretty much do no wrong. :-) I'm here for the long haul.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Your new look is fabulous! I can't wait to see what else you'll be blogging about, after all there is life outside of reading!! :)

  49. I love it. I love the new look and the new "focus". I'm excited to see what you do going forward and have no doubt, I'll be back for sure. <3 Muah!

  50. Yeah, I 've been thinking about this too, Juju. I enjoy it when I get a little glimpse into people's lives, so I've been considering what kinds of things we might want to do with our blog. I love what I've seen from you so far!

  51. I agree and I love it! I'm with you, because I was getting majorly burnt out just talking about books. I was starting to hate it...hence my hiatus. I'm so happy to talk about something other than books. Of course, I will continue to discuss them but it won't be the main focus of my blog. Glad you are happy and doing something for yourself, too! Can't wait to see what you have in store! ^^

  54. sorry I haven't been by in a while. Also noticed your comments were stuck in my intense debate thingy. I have no idea why.
Anywhosit...i here you on expanding the blog beyond books. I say post whatever moves you. You find the awesomest stuff on the web. I swear you do! don't know how you find it. And I enjoy discovering these items you find.

I agree the weather is blah lately, making for blah Jenny. But beyond the books, that's why I occasionally do a knitting post, or food post. I don't do many things and sometimes I like to speak about them.
Ok I've rambled enough. Talk to you later sweetie :)

Love the new look btw. Hope you and the Whimsys are doing well
