Interesting question. I'm reading a book aloud to my students called The Extraordinary Adventures of Ordinary Boy. In his town EVERYONE has a super power. I think it would be cool to live there for a day to see what kind of power I got.

Narnia, definitely (especially the pools in The Magician's Nephew)

The Hollow Kingdom in, well, The Hollow Kingdom (by Clare B. Dunkle). She made goblins look cool (and really almost made me want to be married to a goblin king).

Luthandel and all of the Final Empire in Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy (mostly fort he characters, but they make that place worth it. Even the pits of Hathsin. Panem is almost worth it for the characters. Yeah, I'd brave Panem to meet Haymitch and Cinna and Peeta and Gale and Katniss). I'm sure his Warbreaker series is just as awesome.

The Old Kingdom in Garth Nix's Abhorsen Trilogy. Nine gates of Death all based around water and controlled by bells and charter marks? I'm there (plus Mogget, the coolest animal character in existence is there). And they have paperwings.

Britain of The Sea of Trolls by Nancy Famer. Berserkers, magic and a place where the old Norse gods and Christianity meet? One of the coolest historical fantasies I've ever read.

The world of The Giver by Lois Lowry. But just for one day. I would not want to stay there.

The worlds of A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle. Those opened my eyes to wonder as a child.

Japan of Little Sister by Kara Dalkey. To hang out with a tengu, I would do just about anything.

Maycomb county in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Because it would be worth it just to see Scout, Dill, and Jem play for even a single day. And I would love to glimpse Boo Radley for myself.

All of Ingary in Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. A moving castle, a door that travels between worlds, a wizard who is one of the most endearing ever to be put on paper, how could I pass it up?

Camp Halfblood from the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. It just sounds cool.

You know, I believe one of my greatest wishes is that one day someone can answer this question with "Namya" the setting for my book. Because I think that if you get readers to want to visit your world, you nailed everything else to - all of the characters (even the minor ones), the dialogue, the customs, everything, enough so that you made it real for them. I see that in all the books I just named. I want that when people read my book.

This is an excellent question but tough to answer since some of my favorite books include settings that I would rather read about than live in.

I'll to have to go with Narnia. I wouldn't mind spending some time in that magical world with Aslan and Reepicheep. :)

I would first visit Weasley's Wizard Wheezes in Diagon Alley (Harry Potter). With my pockets full of sweets, I would take a flying car to London Below (Neverwhere). From there I would travel in the Tardis (ok, that's not from a book, but one can dream...!) with the sexy David-Tennant-Doctor-Who, who would take me to Middle Earth. After having ridden a beautiful horse through Rohan (The Lord of the Rings) I would visit The Shire and share my Weasley's sweets with Sam, while drinking a nice cup of tea and talking about time travel.
